This is a HUGE lib strong hold. We should be getting killed in early voteing - and its only 10,000 votes considering the its little San Fransisco down there.

Absentee voters are traditionally Republican.
Good news down Florida way,but don't get TOO excited.

Sounds to me like the republicans are pissed more at the donks than disgust with the republicans and they are worried what a Pelosi house and Reid senate could bring. The donks are looking at a very long and disappointing election. Good, srew them.

Miami Dade is not a HUGE liberal stronghold. Bush got 41% of the vote when I was living there in 2000.
West County is heavily Cuban, and heavily Republican. The coast (Jews, gays, metros) and North County (blacks) are heavily Democratic.
If this was Palm Beach or Broward County, I would be more excited.

Looks good. If these results have the same for as tomorrow, it's going to be a long day for the Dems.
To: cdnerds
Broward doesn't look too good. Democrats out-vote Republicans almost 4:1 in early voting. Absentee ballots are about 50-50 (I hope mine was counted.)

41% of the vote is a huge liberal stronghold. Hell Bush would get that out of the bay area in California. 59% vote against is definetely liberal.

Bush only received 22% of the vote in San Fran county. 59% is "lean Dem", not heavily Dem.
In Broward County, Bush only got 35% of the vote.
I think you red county-ites are spoiled by having Bush/Pubbies win with 70%.

I came out of lurking because of this comment.
We are not "little San Francisco" down here.
WE DELIVERED Florida to Bush in 2000 and 2004 by overperforming. WE got ALL our voters to the polls.
The Cuban community down here votes 75% + for Pubs and despise Democrats.
Please refrain from any comparisons to that cesspool of San Francisco.
Yes..I am offended.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but ignoring the absentee and looking early voting only, you get the
DEM/REP ratio at 58%/42% of the total 'partisan vote', meaning turnout is lining up with the 41% Bush vote expected.
The absentee ballots OTOH is awesome. Must be a special GOP program to get it that good.
I AM CONVINCED THIS WILL BE A CLOSE ELECTION IN 2006, WITH MANY RACES DECIDED BY 1-2% and the House and Senate close too.
YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

broward cty is the 75 % dem now. its a mess and corrupt. all the repub have moved to n palm beach ,martin , indian river, port st lucie , brevard.
its good news because the dems absentee figures are very very low for that county. most dems live in the ne and vote twice in broward. the recent news reports must have scared them .

BTW, you guys got the numbers wrong.
Miami-Dade County Election Results.
In 2000, these were the results:
Gore 52.6% Bush 46.3%
In 2004, these were the results:
Kerry 52.9% Bush 46.6%
GETTING 46.6% of the vote does not make you a liberal bastion. Get educated guys.

actually fl is strange , its the most dem part of the state and the dem percentage should have been higher. the fact dade came in for the repub which is a good sign the base is still energized.
if the dem dont get huge margins in broward and dade then its all over.

The pollsters ask the wrong questions and then come to the wrong conclusions You have it EXACTLY RIGHT -
"Do you consider war on iraq important issue?"
You're darn right - we need to crush the terrorists and stop the surrender + traitorous behavior at home. When they say 30% say war in Iraq is important, they don't consider the possibility some Americans might believe it's important ... TO WIN!
To: BurtSB; Terpfen
I lived in Miami. My parents live in Boca (southern Palm Beach County). Broward and much of Palm Beach County are dominated by New York/New Jersey lib Democrats. This is Robert Wexler/Debbie Wasserman country.
Miami at least has Republican precincts, and three Republican Reps.

I voted early last week, but not because I was primarily motivated to vote, but mainly because I did not want to go and stand in a long line on Tuesday. I have more important things to do with my time.
I am thinking a lot of other Republicans were thinking the same.
So this early voting/absentee voting does not necessarily indicate to me the Republicans are highly motivated.
Do not read much into this report.

he didn't carry dade. The fraud in dade county is heavy. they would have made sure he didn't.
What you probably remembered was that in 2000..there were polls that had Bush winning Dade county...then he got 46.6% of the vote.
BTW...the Mayor of MIAMI-DADE COUNTY is Carlos Alvarez. A former cop, Cuban-American anti-communist, pro-life republican that once called clinton a closet communist. he also happened to call a tax increase an admission of failure.

Broward doesn't look too good. Democrats out-vote Republicans almost 4:1 in early voting. Absentee ballots are about 50-50 (I hope mine was counted.) No, Broward is fine. Broward is a heavily Democrat county. Once you factor in the relative number of registered democrats and GOP voters, you see that Republicans are slightly overrepresented relative to their presence in the voting population.
See my analysis posted earlier.

Even so, MSM theme for this year is that the 'Rats are motivated and Conservatives will stay home, because of Foley or some gay preacher. Pretty good absentee results for a depressed conservative electorate in a San Francisco district. Could it be that the MSM has been hyping Democrat chances? Nah
