U.N. Keeps Quiet on Suspect Boxes From North Korea

By BENNY AVNI

Staff Reporter of the Sun

February 1, 2008

UNITED NATIONS — U.N. officials failed to inform New York or federal authorities about an illness suffered by two employees who had handled boxes shipped here from North Korea — boxes that might have been contaminated — U.N. sources said.

The U.N. contractors suffered headaches and nausea and felt sick enough to report the incident and seek treatment. The U.N. security authorities were concerned enough to deploy their own hazardous-material team but failed to seal the site where the incident occurred or evacuate its workers. As of yet, no determination was made about the source of the symptoms suffered by the two workers. No American authorities were notified.

"A determination was made not to contact the New York authorities," a U.N. spokeswoman, Marie Okabe, said. U.N. security officials decided that the two persons who got sick should first get treatment. "Our own hazmat team" examined the boxes that the two persons handled, and the air quality in the basement where the boxes were stored is expected to be examined today, she said after The New York Sun began to inquire about the incident yesterday.

WTF? The authorities routinely evacuate people for far less. We have boxes from N. Korea. Two people made contact with them, got sick, but no serious evacuation or investigation?

What if real biochem agents were inside? NYC must have had mini-9/11 by now.

The boxes were put in the basement ? Evacuate the building and demolish it immediately. Only way to be sure.

It’s well known that NK diplomats run illicit drug operations out of their embassies in order to generate hard currency. Wouldn't be surprised if the boxes were contaminated by narcotics.

Thanks for the link.

From what I read, it appears that the reason given is that after 9/11 people bought faulty geiger counters, and NYPD responded to a large number of false alarms.

So, instead of going after the companies that sold defective equipment, forcing manufacturers to supply citizens with properly functioning geigers, Mayor Bloomberg chose to strip the public of something sure to improve security and overall health of the community.

That makes sense to me. Some eyeglasses could be defective so we are going to strip them off the sheepies faces.

So, instead of going after the companies that sold defective equipment,...

Ah, the companies probably hired Little Tommy Daschle's wife as a lobbyist, and Congress probably mandated that 1/3 of all faulty detectors be bought from them....

Evacuate the building and demolish it immediately.

Are you sure we should do it in that order?

I am highly skeptical of modern day prophets but I have met one real one in my lifetime: www.prophecy.org . This guy has been exraordinarily accurate. When you get to the site check out the word search for ‘ram’ . According to this prophet, a sailboat containing an atomic weapon detonates in San Francisco in 2015 (the next year of the Ram on the Chinese zodiac). That’s what I love about the prophecies, they are not loose sentiment of judgement from God, they are specific triggers to look for.

...and the’re just so easy to forget if they’re wrong.

There have been a whole lotta prophecies stating specific dates for specific events. We’re all still here.
