Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) said Monday that the media's pro-Obama (or anti-Clinton) bias explains in part why Barack Obama is portrayed as running away with the Democratic presidential nomination (instead of being locked in a close fight with Hillary Rodham Clinton).
"The media does not like the Clintons for whatever reason," Rendell, a Clinton supporter, said in an interview with The Fix. "Maybe some of it's [the Clintons'] fault, but the media does not like the Clintons."
Rendell insisted that the "media has relished this fall with glee that I have never seen in any other candidate in the thirty years I have been in the business." As a result, "Right now the senator can do no wrong," Rendell said of Obama.
His criticism of the coverage came on the same day that this photo appeared on the Drudge Report, accompanied by an e-mail purportedly written by a Clinton campaign staffer wondering aloud about a double standard in the way the two candidates were covered.
On a conference call later on Monday, a top Clinton campaign aide decried the alleged difference in the way the race is being covered. "I think it is true that every time the Obama campaign in this campaign has attacked Senator Clinton in the worst kind of personal ways, attacked her veracity, attacked her credibility, said that she would say or do anything to get elected, the press has largely applauded him," spokesman Howard Wolfson said, according to The Page's Mark Halperin. "When we have attempted to make contrasts with Senator Obama, we have been criticized for it."

Figures that Rendell can’t figure out why anyone would dislike the Clintons. Fortunately he doesn’t have much company on that count.
That’s funny. The media loves them when they’re running against Republicans.

They were worshipped as GODS, and even covered by the celebrity press on E!

As for taking glee in the Clintons downward spiral, well the media had a grand old time chronicling the campaign implosion of Rudy Guiliani.
The Clintons tactics of strongarming the media and refusing them access unless they behave has finally backfired. The last episode when Chris Matthews was forced to apologize and then the pimping out Chelsea comment were subject to threats from the Clintons. The media types are sick of this. When the Clintons have no power, no one is afraid of them.
Nobody LIKES the Clintons. They are dispicable people, even to liberals. The media simply pandered to them because they delivered power. Same with McCain. It’s funny to watch them both discover the truth.
The new Messiah also doesn’t have a voice like a chain saw trying to cut quartz.

This is hard to beleive, given Hillary is the muscle behind the Media Matters organzation, not to mention her involvement with Daily KOS. George Soros and all his $billions$ will not allow this to happen!!
It only took the media 15+ years to figure out what most FReepers figured out in the ‘92 campaign.
Actually, I take this as kind of a lament on Fast Eddie’s part. Gov. Rendell, longtime FOB, pinned his hopes to the Clinton’s retake of the WH...(Eddie wants to move on from the podunk that is Harrisburg). Ed, no doubt, ‘promoised’ that PA would go for Hillary (heck, it probably still will...but it won’t matter). This is Ed’s way of whining w/o saying what he really wants to say.

Rendell overlooks that the only asset Hillary has is that she is Mrs. Clinton. The media and about everyone else has had it with old names.
Daily Kos dumped Hiliary before anyone else did, they hated her more then the freepers here did.
The rest of the left, has sold Hiliary down the river, she has been abandoned, they have moved on to the new flavor of the month, and its not a Clinton.

Well, we have Fast Eddie, Joe Sestak, John Murtha, and the list goes on.
GWB was once quoted as saying (paraphrasing) that “the son inherits half his father’s friends & all of his enemies.” I suspect that it’s the same for Hillary. Half the Media view her with suspicion while the other half support her automatically on account of Bill. Whoever the last-standing non-Clinton candidate was, he/she was bound to benefit from a sort of free-ride.

BS. The lamestream media LOVES the Clintons. They just love Obama more. To the MSM, almost any rat is better than almost any Republican; some rats are better than others (the more leftist, the better), and some Republicans are better than others (the more leftist, the better). It isn’t a 0 or a 1, there is a continuum.
If Rendell thinks the media has a bias against the clintons, he can’t imagine how contemptible I find the criminals.

hillary represents a clinton record of 8 years of economic growth with tosses to liberal causes on the side. Obama represents Carter. Total financial meltdown. Is that what the MSM wants?

Of course, the media likes Clinton. They just don’t think that she can beat the Republican candidate.
Of course they want to go back to Carter. They just think Carter didn't have enough time and opportunity to destroy the entire economy. They want Obama to go back and finish the job so somebody like Reagan can never come along, pick up the pieces, and breath life back into the Republic.

And he obviously doesn’t remember the venemous hatred the press had for Nixon and Reagan.
He does a lot of stuff in Philly. he did a tail gate at an Eagles game.
I always have a good time when I go but you have to be on yoru guard like in any big city.
Fast Eddie apparently doesn’t remember that the media elected Bill to 8 yrs in the White House, stood by him til the bitter end, sent hillary to the Senate, annointed her as shoo-in as President, and covered up 35 years of crimes and treason on their part. Then, the media found somebody they like better, just like the fickle lightweights they are.

The media loved the Clintons before it created Obambi. All that has happened is that the media has tossed aside the Clintons in favor of its own spawn.
Some members of the media, like a lot of democrats, see this current campaign as an opportunity to break free of the iron-fisted control of the Clintons. Up until now, even democrats buckled under to the will of the Clintons, fearful of what they might do to any transgressor. But, now, with Obama surging in the polls and in the primaries, former media stooges and former fearful democrats are making their break for freedom! It is not at all unlike some East Germans vaulting the wall during the last days of the Soviet Union.
The media finally cancelled the Clintons pass for 'free rides' .... what I REALLY want to see is someone cancel their 'get out of jail free' card.
Well put. This explains why the media has been so hard on G. W. Bush: Even though he has tended to be one of the most liberal Republican presidents in a long time, he is just a bit TOOO conservative for the MSM, and therefore he is being punished with great severity. It probably stems from the fact that he said something positive about Jesus Christ, and something negative about abortion. To liberals, these two things amount to hate crimes.
