You're a member of the MSM, and you're a Barack Obama supporter. But I repeat myself. More specifically, you're Chris Matthews. What better way to promote your guy's candidacy than to claim that Republicans would really rather run against Hillary?
That's just what the Hardball host did on this afternoon's show. Here's his exchange with thein my opinionvery impressive Republican strategist Todd Harris, who worked for McCain in 2000, and with Dem strategist Michael Feldman.

Chris Matthews claims Republicans would rather run against Hillary, plus, Johnny Sack lives! Ping to Today show list.
The Union Ad is the best part of the video!
No, this is Crap Matthews way of rigging it for his candidate by saying Tepubs want HRC...Personally I think they are both
equally beatable. But as usual Crap Matthews is a liar, because I prefer to see the Republican choice run against Obama.
It really is excellent, isn’t it!?
That is good!
I think Obama is the better candidate to run against. He is by far the weaker of the two. He does not know how to fight. I think both are horribly flawed. Hillary even managed to Swiftboat herself. Just when I thought she was the smartest women in the world.
The way Republicans are acting and CONSTANTLY killing Obama, and ONLY Obama, can you blame him?
I wonder myself, if they would rather lose to Hillary than beat Obama. Such is the fear and hatred of Obama.
Too bad our only alternative is a guy who shoots himself out of the sky by continually offending the base he’ll need in November.
The Nation’s only hope is a strong conservative VP candidate and a severe health problem.
OMG- that Union ad ROCKS!!! Thanks for the Friday bonus ;)
Meanwhile..Fox is running an hilarious ad with Terry McAuliffe saying “Fox is fair and balanced- Fox called it first for Hillary..”etc. Don’t you think for one minute the way Fox is treating Hillary didn’t have everything to do with why Obama is appearing (700 plus days after invited) on Fox News Sunday with Wallace.
Ain’t we got fun? ;)
Obama can also hurt the ticket in the general especially in competitive districts.
Not this Republican who hopes we don’t live to regret Operation Chaos.
Kind of advisors? Bob Dole re-treads. Doesn't he listen? Only to the voices in his head.
McCain can beat either one, but I think Obama would be easier.
You are right about that if John McCain is going to lose it will be because of himself and his consistent inability to judge the appropriateness of his comments towards his base.
Issues he should stay away from “Global Warming” nobody really cares about it but those who will not vote for him and him harping on it just tweaks those of us who take the false hysteria personally because of the clear danger it presents to our future liberty. He should also avoid taking up to liberals. He can appeal to independents without excepting the premises of the left. He should spend some time with audio books filled with the words of our founding fathers for inspiration. (I think every politician should for that matter)
I saw McCain talking the other day about fiscal responsibility and the money going to Washington not being the governments money. That is a winning message for him. He should really making fiscal and financial responsibility, military strength, and ethics in business as it relates to the economy core messages of his. He has the opportunity to be a leader that unites the country in a good way if he rises to the challenge. He has the unique position of being able to effectively attack the worst of the left while winning back core issues which Republicans squandered such as economic and fiscal responsibility. Those are two issues that are very strong uniting messages that appeal across the board. Even John Corzine has seen the light in NJ and that shows that even for Democrats budget cuts are the way to go.
John McCain can win if he starts being more pragmatic about winning and stops shooting off his mouth about stuff that gives him zero return except with the media who will not vote for him any way. Look up the donations from news organization employees and you clearly see how stacked things are against Republicans even John McCain. Hollywood has more Republicans than CBS,NBC, and ABC combined and that says a lot.
Obama has become positioned as both an albatross and a martyr and that is the problem the Democrat party faces. He is most certainly going to come out on top though barely. What is interesting is how the bitterness and conspiratorial race baiting of the left has come home to roost for the Democrat party. They have created a monster and it is them. They are in the position now where there is no “win win” possible and where if even Hillary were to come out on top that she would still be horribly wounded and I think she could very well become the one Democrat to receive the smallest percentage of black votes in Decades and that is a severe problem for her.
She does not appeal to independents, she evokes rabid hatred from the Republican base, she would not have a lock on the black vote, or the youth vote. The typical leftist base would reject her and it would take little prodding from us to get them to degenerate into a morass of conspiracy theories about how the Clinton’s stole the Nomination. There will not be a united front come the Democratic convention even if the high priests (the pompous asses) of the Democrat party Albert Gore and Howie Dean tell everyone to make nice.
John McCain should be ordering drapes for the White House because the Democrats have nearly guaranteed his ascendancy to the Presidency.
