Out of all of the stupid things to do for somebody who thinks they can be a VP on McCain's ticket.

Huckabee tries to be too funny, and like many people who do, he seldom is.

Meanwhile it is Hillary who claimed to be the target of snipers.

Prescient, maybe. We all know either Dem. nominee will be the target of haters - it is not rocket science.
To: laconic
As soon as he said it, and didn’t get the response he expected, I’m sure he started thinking “maybe I shouldn’t make jokes about assassinations and Presidential candidates”.

It was a dumb thing to say. These guys have to be aware everything is turned into a soundbyte. Jokes about assassination of candidates are off limits.
However, what’s not mentioned here is I think he was giving a speech at the NRA. Puts it a little more in context.
Huckabee too often thinks he is giving a sermon for laughing congregants. He’s trying to be a national figure, act like one.

Hey now, you have to understand something - when Hillary said "snipers", she misspoke - she really meant that she was the target of little girls wanting to read poems and give her flowers.
It's a common mistake we all make.

Fred would be a good balance for McCain and might bring some Conservatives back to the fold. Since Huckabee took himself out of the running, you never know.
To: af_vet_rr
What a DumbAss!!! Just when things are starting to look up for the GOP, Huckabee opens his fat mouth. Please, oh please, go back to Arkansas and help Hillary's campaign there.
Way to go, Huckabee supporters. Not only did you allow McCain to get the nomination, you allowed Huckabee to show the world that the GOP stands for shooting African-Americans. The GOP really deserves to lose in November.

This doesn't just hurt him, but it hurts the reputation of responsible gun owners by suggesting that anyone at an NRA convention would do such a thing.
It reminds me of him doing this before when he went on a turkey or quail shoot in IA and took a shot over the heads of the reporters.
Well, no VP for you!

Just another example of why Huckaboob isn’t fit for national office.
Why he continues is Arkansas is mystery enough, but those voters can decide who they want for governor.

Bush could have been referring to the Obama aide who resigned or was fired last week when it became common knowledge that he had been meeting with the leaders of Hama on a regular basis. That’s what he did for Obama, advise him on the Middle East, so maybe Bush was directing his remarks to Obama, but he could have just as easily been thinking of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or any of the Baghdad Boys. Maybe he was referring to the Democrats in general. Obama just had a guilty conscience over Malley and he was afraid that it would become the next example of bad judgement that caused a media frenzy.

That is a huge side effect of this - it does hurt us - similar to when Cheney shot one of this friends and they acted like it was no big deal. Meanwhile the liberals and media are painting us with the "these people are dangerous and crazy" brush.
To: prairiebreeze

It could be forgiven if it were at least funny. But I can’t make out a punchline in the abortion of a joke. Huckabee apparently laid an egg which is okay with me cuz I don’t want his name to be associated with anything in D.C. in the future other than ‘Faith Based Initiative Director’.
