Barack Obama's America
National Review Online ^ | May 15, 2008 | Michael Novak

Posted on 05/16/2008 4:35:50 PM PDT by beejaa

One of the wisest American former officials I know asked me a few nights ago: “Michael, put on your thinking cap, and tell me where the United States will be four years from now, if Barack Obama is president.”

I had been trying to avoid that question in my own mind. I have tried to tell myself the old proverb (told me by my father), “God takes care of children, drunks, and the United States of America.” I have tried to imagine that Obama will not be president.

But I should try to do the responsible thing: follow the trail from Obama’s announced principles and policies to their probable effects, based on how we have learned that the world actually works.

It’s too scary to even think about.

We can begin to imagine what our lives might turn to by looking at what the lives of 50 million probably would have been like if Obama had been president. He would have preferred to "negotiate" with the Taliban and it is likely that Afghanistan would not have been liberated. We know Iraq would not have been liberated.

So, 50 million people would have been left under abject tyranny under Obama. There are 50 million people right there in Iraq and Afghanistan who are eternally greatful that Obama was not president. How many tens millions will rue the dy that he becomes so?

There has not been a major terror attack on our soil since 911, because of Bush and his taking the fight to the enemy on their turf. If Obama had been President, that would not be the case and we would have, in all probability have been hit again. It is almost miraculous that we have not, but a large part of it is the fact that Bush has them cowering in holes fearing for their very lives...and those who can are too busy trying to fight us on what they consider to be their own turf.

Do I care if the fundamental Islamics and other enemies all over the world are upset by this and howling? not in the least. Bush has been doing his job. One that Obama admits he will not do.

I pray the American people will have the wisdom to see the difference.

Maybe we should all start calling him “Barack Chamberlain” and try to get that phrase widely into the blogosphere — that will really have the liberals in a frenzy.

I also suggest that we refer to his outburst over this as an exhibition of “hysterical narcissism” — Obama cannot bear to have the reality of his weaselhood revealed because it violates his self-perception as perfectly idealistic, perfectly wise, perfectly just.....

This is off-topic, although it does concern Obama.

Why don't we turn the MSM's deification of Obama into an opportunity to permanently de-claw the IRS?

This post (<-click), while addressing taxes, helps to explain why government "leaders" like Obama are actually in contempt of the Constitution that they have sworn to defend, foolishly following in the footsteps of FDR's dirty federal spending politics. In fact, the article referenced below shows that Obama is the #1 federal spending proposer in the Senate for '08; Clinton is #2.

Obama, a big-shot federal spender
The people need to reconnect with the Founder's division of federal and state government powers. The people then need to wise up to the major problem that the federal government is not operating within the restraints of the federal Constitution, particularly where constitutionally unauthorized federal spending is concerned.

The bottom line is that the people need to send big-shot, Constitution-ignoring federal spenders like Obama home as opposed to trying to send people like him to the Oval Office. The people need to get in the faces of the feds, demanding a stop to constitutionally unauthorized federal spending while appropriately lowering federal taxes - or get out of DC.

Since the Obamessiah is a Marxist, anti-American, terrorist sympathizer, I can see nothing less than a liberal, fascist police state. I can also see several major American cities being nuked by Islamic terrorists. After forty years of liberal domination of our educational system and mass media, how can we be surprised when the most unqualified, dangerous person to ever run for President is on the verge of being elected?

People have a hard time imagining America losing its greatness and becoming a second rate power- a la the Romans, the British and even the Byzantine Empire. Well, here's how it starts. Think economic decline, morale terpitude and overall malaise. You want the seventies all over again? Well, here they come!

Obama is nothing more than a latter-day Jimmy Carter.

Perhaps you are referring to an earlier article in National Review comparing Obama to Carter. It can be found at http://nrd.nationalreview.com/article/?q=N2JlNmU3MWYxZGE2ZjBmYzcyOGEyMTZlNDk3YTY3MzE=

I wholeheartedly agree with you. And I for one, will hold my nose and vote for McCain for National Security alone. I disagree with so many other things, but my tagline says it all.
