Obama, under fire for attracting praise and support for his presidential run from the terrorist group Hamas, spoke to Atlantic Monthly at length about his views of the Middle East.
Asked if he thought Israel represented a drag on America's reputation overseas, Obama said: "No, no, no. But what I think is that this constant wound, that this constant sore, does infect all of our foreign policy. The lack of a resolution to this problem provides an excuse for anti-American militant jihadists to engage in inexcusable actions, and so we have a national-security interest in solving this, and I also believe that Israel has a security interest in solving this because I believe that the status quo is unsustainable. I am absolutely convinced of that, and some of the tensions that might arise between me and some of the more hawkish elements in the Jewish community in the United States might stem from the fact that Im not going to blindly adhere to whatever the most hawkish position is just because thats the safest ground politically."

Note that Obama's position is also consistent with those of his supporters at MoveOn.org, who accuse Jews with "divided loyalties" of manipulating U.S. foreign policy. http://www.stentorian.com/MoveOn/sideshow1.html for examples.
Should post them to tinypic.com and link from there. It takes all of two seconds, and then it is their bandwidth and not yours.
Obama is a constant sore on American politics
If Obama becomes President, I really fear for the nation’s future.
Would be of racist of me if I point out that Bareek middle name is Hussain LOL!
Thanks; this looks like a good resource.
Israel, if this anti Christ gets the WH please, PLEASE nuke Washington D.C.!
It’s absurd, since he’s basically wrapped up the nomination, that we only now learn where he stands on these issues. And I’m afraid we’ll be learning more for months to come.
Impressionable democrats aren’t selecting a leader, they’re casting a movie.

“I am absolutely convinced of that, and some of the tensions that might arise between me and some of the more hawkish elements in the Jewish community in the United States might stem from the fact that Im not going to blindly adhere to whatever the most hawkish position is just because thats the safest ground politically.”
Sounds like an appeaser to me. Any friend of Israel should consider a vote for Obambi an act of suicide.
This is the liberal mindset on display: our support of Israel makes the Muslims world hate us.
This is nothing more than what was said by those after 9/11, blaming US foreign policy for the attacks.
This is the basis for all the arguments used by those who believe in appeasement. They think that if we would simply cut Israel off, peace would break out (after Israel is eliminated).
Sounds like he’s going to cut Israel loose. I’m surprised that the Dems think they can do that without bringing the wrath of their Jewish wing down on them. I guess they figure the Jewish voters will swallow anything.
Following his logic, then the destruction of Israel is the only answer for peace in the middle east.
It is pretty clear that Obama will stand by and watch the destruction of Israel. That’s assuming he doesn’t try to actively prevent Israel from defending itself.
His recent gaffe about "all 57 states" can be interpreted as a Freudian slip, where he was thinking about the 57 Moslem States in the world.
I know McCain's already trying to lose the election, but the only way Daffy Duck or Porky Pig could win is if McCain said something like he wanted to be their Vice-President.
Under Hussein Obama and his radical, vile wife, we will have “no” future nor will our children and grandchildren. Our entire existence as a free nation will be in jeopardy. Clueless Liberals and those they’ve brainwashed are destroying everything we hold dear. We are reliving Nazi Germany in the early 1930’s; I’m sure of it. As the saying goes, “those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” With Hussein Obama (IMO, a closet Muslim radical) and the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, Murtha, and the rest of the Liberal human waste in DC and elsewhere, we’re doomed. Clueless American voters just haven’t figured that out yet; that day is fast approaching.
A Free Republic thread discussing the original article is here: Obama on Zionism and Hamas ["Israel is a constant sore"].
Because he's a Democrat.
WTF does that have to do with anything?
Right. I don't think Obama's going to be able to hide his "CHANGES" and just platitude his way until November. Stuff like this will pop out. At this point it's looking like there's a better chance Hillary rather than McCain will take him to task. McCain looks like he wants to lose the election although even if he tries I don't think he will.
Ping!!!

I’m not one to defend Obama, but this article was misleading. What Obama was talking about as being a “constant sore” was not the State of Israel but the Israeli-Arab-Palestinian crisis. That was my impression of the matter after reading what Obama actually said.
So let’s not be like the libs and distort what someone actually meant.
I would say Obama is the “constant sore”.
I don’t think I (or WND) took it out of context. To be spsecific, Obama was referring to Israeli settlements on land that Israel captured from the Arabs after the Arabs provoked the third war in less than 20 years. In other words, he thinks Israel is the problem, just as his sugar daddy George Soros thinks Israel is the problem.
H. Clinton does not want the worthless Dim nomination this time around. She just wants to be sure Obama loses. He is helping plenty.
She now want to sew up the 2012 nomination by having Obama flame out.
Nagonna happen, Babe! The traitors that you mention are gonna back the beaste soon, as the black&mooslim problem with Osama builds.
And us 'clueless-American-voters' are armed - the dims hate that fact ................ FRegards
What's beautiful is the possible destruction of the Dem party. Do the Dems give up the presidency in ‘08 just to keep Hillary from running? They're screwed either way.
Their best best is to run Hillary. She could win against McCain: who is a hero but is so politically dumb he's lame.
It's healthy to realize the trauma that has been brought upon ourselves. As Rush said on Friday, Hillary used to be the worst it got and now people are feeling sorry for her.
Obama, like many on the left, is deluded into thinking that once the "Palestinians" are given a state hatred in the Islamic world for both the U.S. and Israel will disspate. ...as will jihad movement. Of course nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, it'll just encourage that movement even more. Appeasement always does.
Maybe.
First of all, American Jewish liberals are far more liberal than they are Jewish. Liberalism is their religion, not Judaism. Secondly, you'll find no small number of Israeli liberals who agree with Obama's assertion/delusion that once the "Palestinians" are given a state everything's going to be just hunky dory.
They would probably vote for Hitler if he was running with a "D" instead of an "N" after his name, and I am speaking as a Jewish voter. The National Jewish Democratic Council is one of the most disgusting organizations I have ever seen, and the Union for Reform Judaism comes across as MoveOn.org with Jewish holidays.
Of course, Barack Obama's church is pretty much the same thing, noting its ties with the Sabeel Ecuminical Liberation Theology Center. ("Where's Waldo Jesus?")
They know each other well enough. As Rush has pointed out, the secret is that liberal Jews are liberals first Jews second, just like feminazis are leftists first and women second. Same for liberal Blacks, homosexuals, etc. It all falls into place very elegantly if you apply the simple rule.
“The lack of a resolution to this problem...”
Obama doesn’t say exactly which problem he is referring to: 1) the fact that Israel is a state which muslims keep attacking? or 2.) the fact that Israel is a state?
They have in the past, why would anything change now?
And, actually, it is a non-Orthodox Ashkenazi tradition/addiction in America.
One of my friends took a poll of her family and every single one of them is voting Republican this year ..... but they are Sephardi.
Re: “Obama doesnt say exactly which problem he is referring to: 1) the fact that Israel is a state which muslims keep attacking? or 2.) the fact that Israel is a state?”
Obama’s pastor seems to question the latter proposition.
As a poor, dumb Southern boy I cannot but think that Jewish voters are more afraid of so called evangelicals who received their license to preach from Jim Billy Bob’s Bible College and Auto Parts Store. Please do not think about these yokels. Many of them would not know Jesus if they tripped over Him. Get a thicker skin when you hear them talk about salvation. The people you should really fear are the libs.
Keep talking Obama, you just lost the Jewish Vote. People were fearful you would be pro Hamas, anti-Israel—Now we know the truth. Keep talking and get McCain elected.
The Jewish vote for McCain vs. Obama will be 40+%. It's not that McCain is such a great candidate, but that he isn't tainted with Islamofascism and antisemitism like "Osama" is.
Practically speaking, a shift of 15% of the Jewish vote to the GOP (as compared to '04) could be vital in keeping Florida and Ohio in the GOP column and possibly even winning New Jersey for the first time in quite a while.
Borat Obamacide is a pimple on the rearend of mankind.
I wish there was a way to shut this guy up until he has a lock on the nomination.
Because anti Zionist jew's see Israel just the way Obuma does. Never could understand that but it is a fact.
