Religion in private' OK, says ACLU
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | June 27, 2008

Colorado's new state law that was based on the apparent belief that free speech rights are not unalienable and they sometimes must be restricted is scaring residents who now fear expressing their opinions in public.

WND has reported previously that the law, SB200, which was promoted as an "anti-discrimination" plan favoring alternative sexual lifestyles and gender perceptions, has made it a criminal offense to discriminate against someone based on those lifestyles or perceptions.

The Christian publishing house Focus on the Family has called it a payback by the Democrat-controlled legislature and Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter to homosexual activists such as millionaire Tim Gill, who has donated widely to pro-homosexual political candidates.

The Focus analysis of the plan, according to spokesman Bruce Hausknecht, shows that besides the obvious impacts of opening restrooms and locker rooms statewide to members of either sex, depending on a perception of their gender, "the biggest danger this law poses is to the religious or moral consciences of small business owners who may object to doing business with people whose lifestyle they do not want to promote.'

"Who would have believed that the Colorado state legislature and its governor would have made it fully legal for men to enter and use women's restrooms and locker-room facilities without notice or explanation?" Focus founder James Dobson said. "Henceforth, every woman and little girl will have to fear that a predator, bisexual, cross-dresser or even a homosexual or heterosexual male might walk in and relieve himself in their presence."

Will they have Canadian-style tribunals, as well?

Is this really the law now in Colorado? And the citizens of that state think that's ok?

It's a front group for communism.

So, if ones religion includes flaunting ones gayness in the middle of a gay pride parade, (you can make a case for this- phallic worship is quite common in pagan faith), is the ACLU against that too?

How about state worship, the true religion of liberalism? HMMMM??!?!?!

I suspect that Islam in the public square is OK with them, just not Christianity or Judaism. We absolutely can not offend Muslims in any way. And our religions offend them.

Religion in private' OK, says ACLU

Sounds perfectly reasonable; worked fine for the Soviet Union, where lots of people practiced religion in their homes, with window shades completely drawn, while they didn't mention to a single sole outside their home what they believed in. Worked fine, then.

"One may practice one's religion in private; however, once a religious person comes into the public arena, there are limitations in how the expression of their religion impacts others," she had said.

It's like smoking... maybe participation should be taxed to keep it under control. Perhaps the government can provide education material to wean these vulnerable individuals off of this crutch. Definitely, it must be outlawed in public, the workplace and in the presence of children.

Secondhand religion has proved to be almost as destructive in children, as going to church. Therefor, it's critical that you report any displays of this behavior to the proper authorities... after all, it's your freedom that's under assault!

Question:

What about particular religious mandates and necessities for one religious group in public places ie: foot washing sinks in airports?

That is but one - there are no doubt many other demands which will be requested over the years by strict religious groups - and will these be granted?

Foot washing is hardly private. Special rooms converted to ‘prayer rooms’ are hardly private with limitations.

Close one door and another one opens.

So only atheism is allowed in public?

Isn't that an establishment of (non) religion?

"Is this really the law now in Colorado? And the citizens of that state think that's ok?" They probably think it's outrageous. And then they'll go out and vote for a Democrat. People are dumb.

I don't think they know, unless they read FR, or WND. It has done under the radar, and not announced.
