Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is scheduled to pay a solemn visit to wounded Iraq veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington on Saturday, Politico has learned.
The visit will be Obamas third.
Obamas staff is keeping his trip low key. It is not on his public schedule, and his campaign would not confirm it. A pool of reporters will go with him, but will not accompany him inside.
(snip)
McCain occasionally visits soldiers at Walter Reed on weekends when he is in Washington, most recently May 31.
McCains visits are usually unannounced to the press, and sometimes he shows up without even giving the hospital notice. He tells friends it gives him a sense of peace and feeds his soul.

The obligatory photo op. What a Marxist pig.
“You have been maimed in vain, but can I have my photo taken with you anyway?”
maybe he can tell them how “worthless “ their sacrifice was or he could take Kerry and Murtha with him to call them cold-blooded killers in the Genghis Kahn style!
Gosh, I bet Obama is sooooo sorry that this got leaked to the press.

Will he be wearing a special Obama uniform, one that is a parody of the real thing? Maybe with chickens coming home to roost instead of eagles as insignia, and “vero possumus” on the cap.
Will he be taking his Code Pink groupies along with him?
Guys, I know that Obama’s policies are more socialist than Stalin himself, but let’s let him pay his respects to our wounded veterans without the derogatory commentary.
Remember during the first year of the Clinton administration when he went to the Viet Nam Memorial and the vets there turned their backs to him..bet these great guys and gals wish they could do that too.
Disgraceful. Simply disgraceful. This man has no shame.
Regardless of what you think of President Bush, the man has gone to great lengths to visit our wounded troops without any fanfare, press or photo-op activity. Most people have no idea he has ever even gone to visit to the extent he has. The man has class, even if he is a weak conservative.

A pool of reporters will go with him.
But he is keeping it low key.
Right.
No way. When he tells the world that we are losing in Iraq, and he has a Code Pink founder as one of his CA fundraisers, and he has done everything he could as a Senator to undermine the mission in Iraq, and he courted the scum at MoveOn.org and other anti-war groups, he deserves nothing but scorn.
To heal the sick and prostrate himself against the Dollar...
The commie pig had better have his flack jacket on, but the MSM will softball him to outside the Kool-Aid Krowd for drooling comments.
That's the point. He has no 'respects'. Did he ever go before he was a candidate? The man is a total fraud.
Will he bring his Code Pink and Weather Underground buds to tell our wounded heroes that they are damaged tools of the worldwide capitalist conspiracy?
Maybe he can hand out Code Pinko propaganda leaflets.....
I hope the soldiers cold shoulder this poser. ;-)
Of course, his sycophants would never do anything without prescreening the soldiers, so I’m sure they’ll find some who won’t.
Of course, I still remember that soldier who flipped off Hitlery in that pic. :)
He never showed any concern before he was running for President, or while he has been undermining the war effort. I don’t believe he actually has any genuine respect for anyone in our military — he simply knows how to run a political campaign.
“maybe he can tell them how worthless their sacrifice was or he could take Kerry and Murtha with him to call them cold-blooded killers in the Genghis Kahn style!”

Bravo. Well said.
That hypocritical sob.
Right after 9/11 Bill Clinton would show up a the police precinct that my brother worked out of to show his support, offer condolences and encouragement. The cops were working 24 shifts and sleeping at the precinct while they searched for bodies. Nobody wanted anything to do with him. The majority response to him being there was “F**k him.”
This just disgusts me. Makes me want to fly out there and block the doors so the POS can’t get in!!!! LOL
I agree with you on our President Bush. I cant’ bring myself to talk badly about him as I still have a great deal of respect for him even if he has been weak on conservative issues.
Why do our injured men and women have to put up with the likes of these POSs that use them for political gain. He might as well take Kerry and Murtha along too. UGH!
He’ll probably take pictures and then send them to our enemies saying “Nice work guys”. Over the top I know but this enrages me.
This reminds me of Obama's recent visit to the flood-ravaged heartland.
He only had 4,000 cameras focused on him while he lifted 3-4 loads of dirt with a D-handle gardening shovel.
I suspect he will forcibly grab the arm of any Veteran he sees, and pull them into a photo op just like he did with Caroline Kennedy.
Grab the arm, physically force them close, put on the phony smile.
Notice in photo one, Caroline is smiling and clapping while Obama sticks that arm around her. She probably wasn't expecting him to do that...
...because in these photos she doesn't hug him back...

This fourth photo is probably my favorite of the Obama-Kennedy strong-arm poses. Notice she again refuses to return Obama's forced hug by subsequently placing her arm around him, and instead keeps her elbow at the side as though she is trying to maintain some boundary with him. Caroline is clearly very uncomfortable, and that smile of hers is totally forced. No genuine interest in being there at all.

Notice a genuine display of affection when Caroline is close to Teddy. She is voluntarily placing her hand on his shoulder, the other arm is around his, and she has placed her head only a few inches from his. She obviously feels comfortable being close to him.

Obama is going to try the same crap with the Veterans at Walter Reed Hospital, and I hope that the photos are as obvious as these forced poses with Carolina Kennedy.
It will further prove my theory that many Americans are totally uncomfortable whenever forced into a hug with a person they don't really know that well.
PS... Can anyone find a photo of Caroline Kennedy actually hugging Obama back?
solemn?????????????????????????
Barack, the pander bear.
The nerve...
Why not just visit quietly without all the press ???
Some people will use anything and anyone to win brownie points and political campaigns..
Speaking of people who repel decent soldiers, does anybody have a copy of that photo where Hillary Clinton was over in Iraq walking with a soldier, and the soldier had his fingers crossed behind his back for the benefit of the cameraman who was following them?
I work down at WRAMC quite often. I would LOVE to accompany him. I’d like for him to answer some of the questions my soldiers at Reed have for him! POS! Taking the press with him - he makes me sick!
These troops are not stupid and unless they too are of the antiwar view having been over there, these fine defenders of freedom will probably just cross their fingers like the soldier did in the picture that went around some months ago in which Hillary inserted herself..on one of her support trips..er junkets..

DC Chapter ping
I can't wait to see your signs for him--LOL!
.
When he went to the auditorium to give a talk, it was completely empty!
His body guards escorted him quickly out, with his tail between his legs.
Several of our Healing Heroes gave him quite a stern talking to. (to put it mildly)
Can you imagine knowing you are such a traitor to our great country that you (Kerry) go to visit our wounded Military with bodyguards???
For me this is too short notice. I just read this when I got back tonight from Walter Reed. We don’t even know what time during the day he’s suppose to be there. I know the trooprallys will be busy with their Olney Freep.
It’d be nice if we had more people to pick up the slack. Too much for 15-20 core people to handle.
Thank You for helping our wounded heroes.
And your date of joining FR is appropriate, “9-11”.
[Mr] T
During the Clinton years, Bubba went to Johns Hopkins Hospital for a photo-op. The Resident Staff were commanded to meet at a certain time and place, wearing their white lab coats, for the ‘supportive’ group photo.
She is a dumb as a stump.
About the only thing I can add to pissant's comment is that Barack Hussein Obama is using these brave, wounded heroes for a photo op. He doesn't give a flip about them.
P.S. Barack Hussein Obama has yet to return the money raised and "bundled" by Marxist Code Pink traitor, Jodie Evans.
BHO is a POS.
JMO. YMMV.
Visits with military personnel at Walter Reed are a sad but essential rite for national leaders.
One might be sad at first, but in my experience visiting with the wounded troops at WRAMC, my spirit is buoyed and my heart filled with thanks and love for these brave men and women who are a real life example of love for their fellow man. Their attitude is, for the most part, positive.
Barack Hussein Obama's attitude is, "Give up! Run away! It's all our fault! God Damn America!"
As Obama prepares for the role of commander-in-chief, he plans to travel to Iraq next month as part of a congressional delegation. He has also said he will visit Afghanistan before the election.
Excuse me, Mike Allen?!
As Obama prepares for the role of commander-in-chief?
Forgive me for asking, but don't we first have to have an election before we inaugurate Barack Hussein Obama our president?
God Deliver us from the deadly-dangerous arrogance of the MSM.
Apparently, he’s already visited there today and according to the story, said they receive “substandard care under the Bush Administration.”
http://www.quotegator.com/2008/06/28/barack-obama-quietly-visits-wounded-war-veterans-ap/
So much for a “quiet visit.” This was a campaign photo-op using our wounded as campaign props. And I’m sure not one of these MSM types brought up Jodie Evans.
Addition to my last post, here’s a more detailed article on BHO’s use of our wounded troops as political pawns.
http://www.newsobserver.com/1573/story/1123598.html
The administration was roundly criticized last year after it was revealed that veterans at Walter Reed were housed in rundown accommodations and suffered neglectful care. Obama has said the country has failed its veterans by allowing such "second-rate conditions,"
Excuse me, SENATOR Obama, but I believe Congress shares some portion of the blame, for not scheduling sufficient funds to maintain the Walter Reed facility, which is scheduled to close...why put money into something that isn't going to be there, right?
More like used the medical center's front lobby to make some pronouncements and then leave.
There is nothing in that story you linked about Hussein interfacing with the patients in the facility. He arrived shortly after 9am and they've already reported on his visit by 10am. In and out so he can make his scheduled visit to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials.
PHOTO OP JERK
Did they get any pics of him inside? The article said the reporters where told to remain outside. Didn't say anything about photographers either way. But I was thinking the purpose of keeping the reporters outside was so they wouldn't be able to report on patients refusing to talk or be photographed with him. Or that he had no intention of seeing patients in the first place.
Hit and run. Now he can say, yep, been there.
