If John McCain is looking to distance himself from President Bush in voters' minds, there is no better place to do so than on the Bush administration's recent decision to take North Korea off the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
A frontal attack on Bush's multilateral accommodation with Kim Jong Il would constitute a principled stand on national security, nuclear non-proliferation, and human rights. Moreover, by simply demonstrating that North Korea has given no indication of its readiness to declare, disable, and dismantle its nuclear programs in compliance with UN Security Council resolutions, McCain would be taking a hard-nosed national security position requiring none of the military talk that tends to turn away Democrats and independents. Finally, it is a position that follows naturally from John McCain's previous statements on the matter.

BDS eh?
While some fault belongs with Bush, much belongs with other republicans who went spineless and didn’t tell Bush NO on Medicare Part C and NO to the d’RATS on a whole host of social issues.
We are infinitely better off then were Gore or sKerry were elected.
Stay the heck off this thread. That goes for all other Bush haters.
Thanks.
I for one WILL miss President Bush greatly.
Welcome.
i too will miss him... his tact and class... and his willingness to do what is not popular because he believes it is right in regards to the WOT... i like his humor...
..but I disagree with him and am disappointed in him...
...are you saying no one is allowed to post if they are not Bush supporters?
I will miss the dignity and decency that President Bush and Laura brought back to the White House. From the very beginning of his 1st term, he has had challenge after challenge, never getting a break. The damn media always thwarting anything and everything.
I just hope the media doesn’t pick our next president. Obama would be a world disaster.
Only posters stricken with BDS aren’t welcome. Posters with substantive disagreements are free to post. We’re kind of tired of the Bush bashing. Aren’t you?

Less than I used to be--and I voted for him twice. It depends on the baggage of the basher and what the topic is. In the specific case of a deal with Kim Jong Il, it sounds like Carter and Clinton redux, absent some really convincing explanations, which I think the public deserves.
Many of us are ready to say 'good-bye'....
But it doesn't help any of us to 'hate' ....that's wasted energy...
..what has been done has been done...
..only God can fix it, only God can direct the channels of a man's heart.
IMO, our nation is sinking under the weight of its corporate sins....and Bush' decision to pursue amnesty and NAU may be our final blow.
President Bush is a good man. With the exception of the tax cuts, his domestic policies were disappointing on spending and immigration.
“Saying Goodbye to Bush”
Hasta Luego.
The President proposes, the Congress disposes.
You forgot “veto.”
I’ll admit you are right.
We definitely needed Conservative Leadership from all corners of the government. Progressives have the media and can call the tune. Each time we ‘compromise’ with the leftists, we loose and are gradually becoming like that which we despise.
If you dance with the devil, the devil don’t change. The devil changes YOU.
If the Republican party continues to act like Democrats, why do we need two parties?
His domestic blunders have been many and a few even monumental, but the things he's accomplished militarily, domestically and diplomatically were something almost totally unexpected by most Americans and FReepers.
I'm not some asshat (although quite a few would disagree) with a short memory. Because of the initial tumult of 9/11 nine months into Bush's first term, this has been an unexpected presidency in terms of results.
God bless George Bush.
Your comments are spot on. I don’t agree with everything President Bush has done, but I am glad he is our President. Just think President Gore or Kerry and shudder. BTW, did you hear that John Kerry actually has a Democrat running against him for the first time in decades? LOL.
