Obama to rename Bush's faith office By: Mike Allen July 1, 2008 10:55 AM EST

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) plans to slam President Bush’s faith-based program as “a photo op” and a failure on Tuesday, and says he would scrap the office and create a new Council for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships that would be a “critical” part of his administration.

Obama, unveiling a plan to overhaul and expand Bush’s faith-based program during remarks at a community ministry in Zanesville, Ohio, said the White House Office of Community and Faith-Based Initiatives — which Bush founded during his second week in office — “never fulfilled its promise.”

“Support for social services to the poor and the needy have been consistently underfunded,” Obama says in prepared remarks. “Rather than promoting the cause of all faith-based organizations, former officials in the Office have described how it was used to promote partisan interests. As a result, the smaller congregations and community groups that were supposed to be empowered ended up getting short-changed.”

“Support for social services to the poor and the needy have been consistently underfunded,”
And that is PRECISELY where all the spending increases in an Obama administration will go, funded by cuts in .mil and increased taxes, you will see welfare on a scale previously unimagined.

So, we’ve spent 40 trillion dollars in wealth transfer payments and the social situation of the poor is worse than ever...

Is Obama saying that if we spent 50 trillion that the poor and needy would be better off?

I doubt that a 25% increase would be anywhere near what he has in mind. Think doubling at a minimum.

2nd term think R-E-P-A-R-A-T-I-O-N-S

Obama, if elected, may well appoint the Reverend Mr. Jeremiah Wright, the Reverend Mr. Al Sharpton, Father Michael Pfleger and His Imamness Louis Farrakhan to run the program which would be informally known as the national “walkin’ around money” and “reparations” office funded by 63.7% of the federal budget, with lots more “lovely” taxes and a close-out sale on the defunded American military run by General Weasely Clark, USArmy retired, assisted by paleoPaulie and the paleos to the Islamofascist enemies at 10 cents on the dollar.

Boston College estimates that the figure is 41 trillion.
This includes lost investment by the people the money was stolen from.

The money will be sent to the “correct” faiths this time.

This is why I wasn't crazy for this initiative in the first place. An Obama administration will simply drive a truck through it now and make it another organ of the welfare state to build a dependent constituency.

Don’t forget the casualties of this war: unborn babies, drug addicts, abused children, victims of gangs, etc. etc. It reaches into the millions. Makes Iraq look like peanuts.

Just a reminder: LBJ swept into office in 1964 with 2/3’s of the House, and a filibuster proof Senate, and pushed through his War on Poverty, etc., without opposition. A MommaObama presidency coupled with a similar congressional makeup can do untold damage to the future of our nation...

And here will be the keystone and lynch-pin partner in that Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnership.
