I always shudder when I hear a homosexual refer to "coming together", ESPECIALLY when it involves a family. Yes, I know - I hate Freudian psychiatry, too.
The article reports actions by the pastor that are wrong - he went beyond handing out literature. I agree with his point of view - the Bible is clear about that. I disagree with the park being off-limits; renting out a government owned facility doesn’t turn it into private property. The pastor, as all Christians, should behave himself. Throwing something - even if it was harmless - displays arrogance. Not good for the Christians to behave in such a fashion.
Wichita Population: 344284
Just damm..
Never in my wildest dreams had I ever thought it would come to this point...
Malox ??? Rolaids ????
Nothing helps...
The sky is clear, but its raining..........
Our society is in a death spiral of moral rot. So very sad.
MM
Free speech is a thing of the past. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a fool. The 1st amendment is a liberal outlet only conservatives need not apply.
Yes
This is what brought the glorious Roman Empire to its knees.
History repeats itself.
Sad
but true
So do we just fold our tents and move on ?
And if we resist...under what leader ???
filthy disease ridden queers strike again...
Gay Pride Parade in Wichita, KS? Wow....of all places and in mid-America no less. I guess the American apple pie is getting rotten to its core!
I don’t know about you but I am so tired of being the “Silent Majority”
The more I try to “Just get along”... the worse it gets...
These people see kindness as weakness...
Kind.. Yes
Weak..NOTTA !!!
Not good that he threw it, but you can see the police were there waiting for even the slightest justification to arrest him. In such circumstances the pastor should have been very careful.
But I still see this as another step towards us becoming like Canada with “hate speech” laws. And the sidewalk area where they could protest was just another version of the oxymoronic “free speech zones.”
I read that for the very 1st gay pride parade in San Diego, back in ‘73 or ‘74, the police told the organizers that they couldn’t guarantee their safety. At that time, the subject of homosexual pride and being so open about it was so shocking to people, that the police were afraid it would incite a riot.
I’m glad there was no violence, and that these parades are peaceful (if lewd sometimes). Just saying, the social climate around these events has really changed.
Why is it that Gays and Lesbians have to march and parade for their proclaiming ‘rights’. How come we don’t see adulterers, fornicators, pedophiles etc... gathering together in pride marches? After all they partake in sexual deviancy too!
This is right. He wasn't arrested for speaking. He was arrested for battery. If you are going to do something the police would like to arrest you for (speaking against homo behavior) but can't, you should make sure not to do other things they can arrest you for. Because you will be arrested.
Was the Phelps gang picketing this gay event or do they only do their thing at military funerals?
Have you ever taken notice that the Normal ( moderates and conservatives ) people don’t riot..slash, burn or destroy other peoples property ??
The rioting, slashing, burning and destruction are done by__________. You fill in the blank.
And if we resist...under what leader ???
You pose several relevant questions.
So do we just fold our tents and move on?
No, never we must continue to struggle and attempt to enforce our 1st Amendment rights. We may lose, however, we would have tried.
And if we resist under what leader???
To each his own, however, I will not vote for the lesser of two evils (never have, never will)
I will not vote this time around. And at my age and health, this will probably be my last presidential voting opportunity, I will pass (so to speak).
I agree - thin ice for free speech that is not PC, even though we have the 1st Amendment; which our neighbors to the north do not have. Recall the twisted application of RICO, with the “safety bubbles” around abortion mills? No free speech if it makes abortion seekers uncomfortable.
LOL
“He was arrested for battery. “
The pastor took a button and threw it and it hit the other guys arm...
A Button for gods sake... A BUTTON !!!
Umm.... battery, for a little button thrown at someone (hitting the person in the arm)?
I understand how you feel... I feel much the same way.
However , a vote for “one” BLOCKS us completely..
A vote for the “other”...well..then we conservatives will still have a window of opportunity...
Hold your nose and vote. ;-)
Good question, since the Phelps gang's base in Topeka is only 140 miles away.
1. He shouldn’t have thrown anything at anybody.
2. He was crashing a private event.
3. Homosexual intercourse is a sin. So is remarriage after divorce. So is playing with oneself. So is the use of artificial birth control. Why is it that we Christians spend so much time and energy objecting to the first sin and less on the others? It can’t be that gay sex is worse than other sins divorce and contraception in particular cause far more damage to society (and to human beings) than does b-—f-——g.
We are all sinners; the Gospel is a gift of love from one sinner to another, not a missile to be thrown at people. While I sympathize with those who desire to evangelize homosexuals, I do not see how being a dick brings them any closer to Christ the only Hope any of us have.
Sure it does. If I rent a government-owned stadium to put on a concert, I get the right to exclude anyone who doesn't pay admission or meet whatever other requirements I may put in place, subject to civil rights legislation and other restrictions. I can certainly eject anyone who is disrupting my event.
Christ turned his back to no one.
He was and is is lovin and forgiving to all.
BUT...there was a caveat...
“GO AND SIN NO MORE”
Simple........
When the city dropped the charges, they pretty much lost this case. It is a slam dunk for Pastor Holick now. Same thing will happen with this arrest.
Homosexuality is a direct attack on the family and society, in a way that divorce (as bad as it is) and birth control is not.
FWIW, the maximum acceptance of open homosexuality coincided in time with the high point of both the Greek and Roman civilizations. As tolerance for these activities declined, so did the civilizations.
The death penalty for sodomy was in place in the Empire more than 100 years before the Western Empire collapsed.
More critically, Greeks and Romans had ideas about sex between men that just don't fit any modern template.
BTW, the Roman Empire often wasn't all that glorious for the majority of the inhabitants.
As someone who served in VN, I have nothing but praise for McCains service and his many obvious sacrifices for his country and fellow service members. However, over the past twenty years or so of service in our government I see little to distinguish him from the liberals across the isle, and that worries me.
Tick....
Tick....
Tick....
....
.....
.
I hope the Denver police watch the tape and use the same standards when deciding which protesters to arrest during the Democratic National Convention.
You can google Homo / Bi sexuality in the Roman world and come up with a very ugly “can” of worms..
Spin it as you wish...
Nasty stuff.......
I didn’t say it wasn’t ugly. I said it was very different from any of today’s sexual patterns.
No... I respectfully disagree.. however..
to late to debate.....
sleepy
thanks for giving me another area to to research :-)
Are we talking Wichita.... KANSAS!?
Dude, that's misdemeanor battery. Look it up. I'm entirely sympathetic to the pastor's free speech rights and to what he was saying. But he was stupid and did his cause a disservice when he threw the button.
The cops wanted him gone. He gave them the perfect excuse.
This ranks as one of the top 10 idiotic posts I've ever seen on FR. And I am Catholic.
LOL WUT??
Divorce (by breaking the God-ordained bond between husband and wife) and contraception (by acting to alienate the act of conjugal love from human life) are far more destructive to the institution of the family than is homosexual intercourse. Homosexual acts are by definition outside of and unrelated to family life; divorce is the murder of a family, while contraception is in direct contravention to God's command to be fruitful and multiply.
Society can survive any amount of gay sex, but it cannot survive without families and children, which are destroyed by divorce and contraception.
I’d be happy to point out the relevant portions of the Catechism to you.
“Why is it that we Christians spend so much time and energy objecting to the first sin. . .”
I think it’s because the homosexual groups are militant, and forcing social acceptance through our schools, military, and laws.
The other “sins” you mentioned (I am not sure myself about all of them, but whatever) are not being promoted with flags on the street, newspaper editorials, big fat parades, etc.
Actually, I’d take issue with you and say that divorce, save for abuse, desertion or adultery, is a direct attack on the family.
It’s because so many heterosexuals have made a joke of marriage that the homosexual marriage movement has gotten as far as it has.

That is a good point. It does not matter what people believe. However, Religion does not excuse harassment.
No, that is battery. It's illegal, and anyone who defends it is just as wrong. We should "keep our hands to ourselves", just as we should have learned in kindergarten.
2. He was crashing a private event.
Yes, it seems that he was.
3. Homosexual intercourse is a sin. So is remarriage after divorce. So is playing with oneself. So is the use of artificial birth control. Perhaps because, as the Bible advises us, it is often easier to point out the mote than it is to remove the beam? "Any why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye?" Matthew 7:3
We are all sinners; the Gospel is a gift of love from one sinner to another, not a missile to be thrown at people. While I sympathize with those who desire to evangelize homosexuals, I do not see how being a dick brings them any closer to Christ — the only Hope any of us have.
This.
I agree. B-Chan must be a little light in the loafers to provide such a worthless post.
