Israel's new electric car initiative was presented to a US congressional committee this week in hopes of garnering investment in a project that could ease financial troubles caused by rising oil prices.
Israeli entrepreneur Shai Agassi, who has teamed with Renaul/Nissan to introduce electric cars to Israel on a massive scale in the coming years, told the congressional Committee on Energy Independence that investing in the Israeli initiative will be good for America in several ways.

Basically people will be swapping batteries in each "gas" station

The idea, said Shai Agassi, 39, the software entrepreneur behind the new company, is to sell electric car transportation on the model of the cellphone. Purchasers get subsidized hardware - the car - and pay a monthly fee for expected mileage, like minutes on a cellphone plan, eliminating concerns about the fluctuating price of gasoline

I am actually doing some thing to build them up state side.
I’ll do my best to introduce it here.
I’m throwing my tea in the water right now.
The future of electric cars appears to lie in super capacitors and not batteries. The EEStore project should probably be put on a war footing as a national priority.
well i want to put this thing up now, not tommorrow or 10 yrs or when they crash the oil which they will
also, i have to make sure that these new toy companies can survive after the oil is crashed and oil panic is removed from headlines
but back to your point, you would prefer cars run out of capacitor vs just battery, i have no problem with it as long as it does not come from overseas
I agree although arrays of nano scale conventional battery cells may be able to overcome the traditional slow charge times of chemical batteries however.
Here's an overview of where EEStore is at for anyone interested:

Toronto based ZENN, an established EV maker will use the EEStor technology for it's upcoming electric vehicles.
I think I like this car. I’ll volunteer to test-drive it under sub-Arctic conditions...
It actually sounds like a good idea. You get to a energy station, and they swap in a fully charged battery. No wait time for charging, and you’re on your way right away. It’s going to be a reality in Israel in the next two years. By then, Renault/Nissan will be selling their electric car here in the U.S. (probably with the same technology for future battery swaps).
