Barack Obama was yesterday fending off charges from right and left that he had abandoned the core premise of his candidacy - the withdrawal of all US combat forces from Iraq within 16 months of taking office - in an attempt to attract voters from the political centre.

Another classic case of trying to run with the rabbits and hunt with the hounds, imo. (on many issues lately). Even his cheerleaders in the press seem to be confused.
Although this could come back to bite him in the ‘ear later, I fear his supporters don’t listen to the true message and will vote for him anyway.
