Judge grants restraining order requested by FLDS spokesman
The Salt Lake Tribune ^ | July 9, 2008 | Brooke Adams

Posted on 07/10/2008 12:25:11 AM PDT by Saundra Duffy

A Washington County judge on Wednesday granted a temporary restraining order and injunction sought by a polygamous sect spokesman, who is accusing a Cedar City investigator of harassment.

Fifth District Judge G. Rand Beacham set a hearing for July 23 on the action sought by Willie Jessop.

Jessop, a member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, filed the request against private investigator Sam Brower on Tuesday. He claims Brower has a "long history of following and photographing FLDS members," often leading to confrontations, and has engaged in a "pattern of continual harassment" that includes making disparaging comments about Jessop to the media.

“The intrusions have frightened Jessop’s children and invaded the family’s expectation of privacy, according to the court filing. “

Imagine how the children felt, having just been rounded up at gunpoint, separated from their mothers and dumped in foster homes all across the state. Then this private investigator scales a fence with a news crew - scared the kids. This witch-hunt needs to end.

This witch hunt must continue.

We must fill the courts with attacks against the guy on the cross

Only then will our appeals against the Allah's guy hold water.

We must have precedent!!!!!!

Then we can win.

Allah's is pimp and his murder who is Mohamed smells like a whore

Keep Sweet ...

Are you arguing in favor of polygamy and all of its associated horrors? Including child brides, lost boys, disintegration of families, and welfare fraud?

Perhaps you need to read this primer on polygamy prepared by the Utah and Arizona Offices of the Attorney General. And I recommend you watch this video on the principle.

Then when you have the facts ...

Jessop claims Brower took a television news crew to Hildale on June 7 and scaled a 6-foot-high wall in order to take pictures of Jessop's home and yard. On that same day, Brower took the news crew to Jessop's ranch in Canaan Gap and, ignoring "no trespassing" signs and locked gates, again began photographing children and other family members, it said.

"Jessop claims....."

That's nice.

If it's true, nowhere does it say that the reporter entered the property. And photographing someone is not *rounding them up at gunpoint*.

Witch hunts work both ways. There are witch hunts going on against anyone not affiliated with the FLDS or LDS.

The hyperbole needs to end.

Now just wait a minute Zakeet. I have it on pretty good authority that all the female apologists know, as it is burning in their bosom, that revelation will be forthcoming to Monson to allow that wondrous polygamy once again to the children of men. Yea verily! And what a wondrous day that will be...all the ugly ones will finally get a husband.

I believe there are a few posting here.

Nobody knows. But it's convenient for witchhunts to presume the worst about anybody.

Kind of like lynch mobs and knowing the religious affiliation of all those involved without having been there because it happened before you were born.

You can't make someone look bad without making a whole bunch of assumptions.....

Same Joseph Smith, same Brigham Young, same Book of Mormon, same history of polygamy. The LDS can't claim to be different without disparaging their own founders and scriptures.

Warren Jeffs is Joseph Smith incarnate, including the jail time.

And it looked like a TANK to me. In my heart I will always know the kids must have thought it was a TANK comin’ to get them.

Yep, some law enforcement dudes invited FLDS innocent little boys to step inside the “tank” and look around. How fascinated they were! But then these same law enforcement dudes who lured the little boys inside participated in the round-up - with snipers hiding behind boulders. What a trick they pulled on those poor little boys! How clever!

Anyway, I am glad this FLDS guy got a restraining order to keep the media and snoopers away from his kids. Those kids have been through enough already!

Lurker - thanks.

The “rounding them up at gunpoint” occurred when the raid took place at the ranch when the children were rounded up at gunpoint, loaded onto buses, and dumped first in a coliseum (coliseum!) and then in foster homes all across the state.

Thank goodness the courts returned the innocent children to their parents.

By the way, this whole thing was instigated by an adult woman making a false report. In other words, the raid and round-up was ordered on the basis of a lie which is not kosher according to the Constitution.

Snipers behind boulders and evil men bristling with machines guns tricking kids. At this rate I am sure there will be tales of helicopter gunships and B2 bombers with stand off nukes in about 6 months

This must be how “fact”’ evolves in the LDS world. Maybe one day you'll have a chapter all to yourself in the history of the church...

POLYGAMY IS ILLEGAL. IT WAS ILLEGAL WHEN JOSEPH SMITH WAS PRACTICING IT WITH 13 YEAR OLD GIRLS AND OTHER MEN'S WIVES AND IT IS ILLEGAL TODAY WHEN WARREN JEFFS IS PRACTICING WITH 13 YEAR OLD GIRLS AND OTHER MEN'S WIVES.

Are you asserting that law enforcement ignore open violations of the anti-polygamy statutes ? Don't your prophets and scriptures command you to obey the law of the land ? Is Polygamy specifically protected under the constitution ?...Please reference.

You maybe right. I had lunch with a former LDS member yesterday, he tends to think the same thing. Too much information is a bad thing in their world. Sadly, the church keeps the facts on record, but twist and controls how they are used, and the importance they are given, with some just mentioned in passing and blown off, others sow swept up with hyperbole and flourish that even in the truth there is a lie.

It allows them to “look” honest about themselves to outsiders while still maintaining the flow of information to the rank and file.

I am right. I know because I am not even a “former” member, officially, yet. The level of brainwashing that goes on in the LDS church is stunning. It starts in very strong ways with the youth. “When the prophet (profit) speaks, the thinking has been done.” The girls are raised to believe they can only go to heaven if they accept polygamy in the eternities. The emotional distress and pain inflicted on the FLDS girls is also inflicted on LDS girls and women.

I agree with you. I also know that many members really don't have a clue because everything has been so obfuscated and blended with standard Christianity that it appears normal.

Of course even today, there are still people who think the “Bearded Lady” really was a woman and “The Wild Man From Borno” was real and not some hairy black dude.

PT Barnum and Joesph Smith rely on the same customer base, and sadly, there will always be a few. Remember Scientology, L Ron even admitted it was a scam, yet they still come.

Sad and I am glad you have seen your way clear.

There is always the threat of force implied when going dealing with most LEO agencies, hence why we issue them weapons. That is not what is being implied here, the is much more. The term being used in "Gun Point"

The difference is whether the gun is holstered or drawn. “Gun point” has always meant a drawn weapon, ready for action and pointed at a suspect or anyone else for that matter. A holstered gun is not “pointed” at anyone, but is ready to protect the officer and others. It is not a subtle difference, and using the term “gun point” when weapons were not drawn is nothing but an attempt to invoke fear and support further hyperbole.

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/19#19
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother,
“I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

And yet; some people will take ANYTHING at face value.

Imagine a guy walks into a bank, dressed professionally, not even carrying a weapon.

He walks up to a teller, and presents her a note, “My partner accross the street has a sniper rifle trained on you. Give me the cash.” The sniper exists, and the teller can see the sunlight reflect off of his scope.

Did he commit armed robbery?

Oh, heck yeah.

You did attribute to me, by implication, something that I didn't say. The original poster tells that particular lie on every FLDS thread, I call her on it every time I see it, I will continue to do that.

It has already been explained to you about the difference between armed police and guns pointed at children (which didn't happen)

Jessop, a member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Saundra,

For months, the LDS members here have been informing anyone who would listen that the FLDS is not the LDS, they two are completely different, the LDS "disavows" the FLDS, and any comparison is "bigotry."

Furthermore, LDS members have told me they view the FLDS practices and teachings as "criminal."

So, why are you posting a thread and why did you post comments that are implicitly defending them?
