Obama makes first trip to Afghanistan
CNN.Com ^ | 07/19/2008 | CNN

KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama arrived Saturday in Afghanistan on the first stop of his tour of the Middle East and Europe, aimed at boosting the U.S. Democratic presidential hopeful's foreign policy credentials, his campaign confirmed.

The U.S. senator from Illinois also plans to visit Iraq, although details of the trip have have not been made public for security reasons.

The fight in Afghanistan has become a more pressing issue on the political radar. Three times as many coalition soldiers and other military personnel have died in July in Afghanistan than in Iraq.

On Sunday, nine U.S. soldiers were killed in a fight with about 200 Taliban militants in eastern Afghanistan. It was the deadliest attack on U.S. troops in Afghanistan in three years.

Well, the Taliban must be happy since Obamessiah sat under Jeremiah Wright who said America deserved 9/11.

Birds of a feather and that sort of thing.

"In my experience, fact-finding missions usually work best the other way around: First, you assess the facts on the ground; then you present a new strategy."

Obama on Tuesday called the war in Iraq a "dangerous distraction" from the battle in Afghanistan, and said if he is elected one one of his top goals will be to finish the fight against the Taliban and al Qaeda, which their regime harbored in Afghanistan.

He says it's best to assess the facts then form a strategy. Then, he goes right on giving his already formed strategy (without any facts yet).

Agreed. Wright was dancing on the podium on 9/16/2001, for all intents and purposes, saying white America got what it deserved. Which is one of the stupidest things anyone could ever say since Americans of all sorts died and were horribly injured on that day.

And Obama STAYED in that church, UNDER WRIGHT, for SEVEN MORE YEARS.

A child could connect the dots. But not the uber-liberal left of America.

WAKE UP AMERICA. STOP DRINKING THE KOOL-AID.

I’m waiting for the first story about how Obama had to worry about sniper fire when he got out of the airplane. By the time the TV anchors get back to their perfumed thrones in New York, Barack Obama and Davy Crockett will be the same person, except that Davy had more advantages as a child.

Yeah, okay, these questions are rhetorical, but I just can’t help asking and hoping there may one day be an answer that makes sense.

Is Charlie Gibson going to pursue the tax issue?

Obama and Gibson Capital Gains Tax Exchange

http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/23137.html

GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.

So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?

OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

The press is engaged in willful manipulation of the public and it’s frightening.

The donks don't say anything about the 'Stan for five years other than that it is somehow more noble to be there than in Iraq, but incresed casualties allow a nice, seamless MSM-enabled shift in emphasis. And now that the Kennedy/Daley sock puppet touches down in Kabul after previously blowing off the mission and it's troops, it's like the 12th Imam hisself has shown up.

I can only hope that Specialist niteowl77 Jr. is sleeping in today, so he doesn't have to put up with the dogs and ponies of Brother Love's Traveling Salivation Show.

Why would OBL want to off one of his own sympathizers? Maybe they can get together while he's over there and work out a plan for power sharing after January of next year. Obama, Osama, and Farrakhan would make a great triumvirate in the Oval Office doncha think?

All joking aside, the very thought of that guy as president of this nation scares the living daylights out of me. If he didn't scare me so much I wouldn't be planning to vote for RINO McCain next November, but there is bad and there is worse, and bad is better than worse. What a great pair of choices the idiot primary voters gave us huh?

Yes it is, but let's all just pray to Almighty God who has blessed and protected this nation for 2+ centuries that the American voters will come to their senses and this national nightmare will end next November.

Wouldn't it be great to go one week without seeing that grinning face on the front page of your paper every morning? I suppose that if God forbid Obamassiah is elected that will be the routine every morning for the next four years. I well remember the outpouring of adulation that JFK received from the media during his 1960 campaign and that RFK received during his primary campaign a few years later that was cut short by his assassination, and that was nothing compared to the outright worshipful adoration that Obamassiah is getting from them now.

In Iraq my prayer is that somehow he is boooooed by troops or face tough questions why he does not support their mission!!

What about a question regarding the FACT that Obama votes against all their funding.

I would like to volunteer to pack Obamas parachute on any possible sky diving photo op. No I have never packed a chute.

There is one thing that is most dangerous, inconsiderate and just plain ole stupid about Obama’s little trip. By announcing it to the world and staging it like a side show (why doesn't he just carry a large white flag around that says “HERE I AM!” with him while he's at it), he is putting our men and women of the military stationed there in increased risk of attack. He is using this for his own aggrandizement and it is one more example what he puts his own interests over that of the lives of those who serve. He is not fit to be Commander over our brave, self sacrificing members of the military...Never.
