Sen. Harry Reid Claims Judges Don’t Matter to Americans

On the Senate floor today, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., claimed the issue of judicial nominees doesn’t matter to Americans.

“I’m telling you, Madam President, I can't ever remember going home and somebody saying, ‘Could you guys (confirm) some more judges? We need to take care of this judges problem.’ ” Reid said. “Frankly, judge(s) is not a big issue (compared) to all of the other problems we're facing in America.”

Just because it's your sworn Constitutional duty to do it, you idiot. That means in a timely manner also.

Mr Reid is a huge problem all by himself. Add the other dems in and it is overwhelming.

Probably because it hasn’t been an ‘issue’ before. Because the other Congresses were smart enough to keep the positions filled.

Stupid politician

Reid don’t care about what is important to Americans, so why would judges matter either?

What a slime ball.

“judges is not a big issue compared to all the other problems”

All the problems were created by congress!!
Reid is an idiot, Pelosi is worse!

Contact your congress, in addition to drilling, let them know how you feel about confirming judges.

Dear Senator Reid:

Aux contraire, Alfalfa Hair. Judges are a major reason why America has the problems it has, having circumvented the other two powers to politically rape this nation with every damaging decision they deem to impose against the will of the American people.

Of course, being the worthless, America-hating political whore that you are, you simply don't want to wreck something that has benefitted your own interests.

But you best be careful, Alfalfa. These activist judges that you defend will someday decide that Congress is not in the best interest of the people and impose a judiciarchy. Thanks to you and other cowardly liberals who fear the will of the people, of course.

Treasonous bastard.

This is one more example that Senator Harry Reid is a political moron. Actually, the kind of people who support Reid (and Obama) DO care about judges. They want ones who will ignore the Constitution in order to rule however they choose to benefit the "right" people, which does not mean people on the right of the political spectrum.

I find very little to favor in Senator McCain, except for his statements about the kind of judges he would appoint, and the people he has chosen as advisors on the subject of judicial appointment. On that critical subject, the differences between McCain and Senator Obama are like night and day. I would say, as different as black and white, but I can't say that, can I?

Judging by both houses of Congress being majority RAT and the RAT nominee leading in the Presidential race, Reid may well be right. I should think the opposition party would seize on his statement and see whether it’s really true. Sigh.

Enquiring minds want to know--Why are the powers in NV that keep this pathetic nonentity in power not reining him in on drilling, judges, etc. that are contributing to the decline of the economy? I read that LV is hurting because so many tourists cannot affort to drive/fly into LV and still have money for shows and gambling.

"... The fact is that the government, like a highwayman, says to a man: Your money, or your life." And many, if not most, taxes are paid under the compulsion of that threat.

The government does not, indeed, waylay a man in a lonely place, spring upon him from the roadside, and, holding a pistol to his head, proceed to rifle his pockets. But the robbery is none the less a robbery on that account; and it is far more dastardly and shameful.

The highwayman takes solely upon himself the responsibility, danger, and crime of his own act. He does not pretend that he has any rightful claim to your money, or that he intends to use it for your own benefit. He does not pretend to be anything but a robber. He has not acquired impudence enough to profess to be merely a "protector," and that he takes men's money against their will, merely to enable him to "protect" those infatuated travellers, who feel perfectly able to protect themselves, or do not appreciate his peculiar system of protection. He is too sensible a man to make such professions as these. Furthermore, having taken your money, he leaves you, as you wish him to do. He does not persist in following you on the road, against your will; assuming to be your rightful "sovereign," on account of the "protection" he affords you. He does not keep "protecting" you, by commanding you to bow down and serve him; by requiring you to do this, and forbidding you to do that; by robbing you of more money as often as he finds it for his interest or pleasure to do so; and by branding you as a rebel, a traitor, and an enemy to your country, and shooting you down without mercy, if you dispute his authority, or resist his demands. He is too much of a gentleman to be guilty of such impostures, and insults, and villanies as these. In short, he does not, in addition to robbing you, attempt to make you either his dupe or his slave. ..."

Yes, Harry, there are just so many more important thing that the Senate is not accomplishing. So not getting judges confirmed is just another thing you can tell your constituents that you didn’t get accomplished.

So Reid is saying that confirming judges doesn’t matter. Of course. Not to him. As far as he’s concerned, the fewer Bush judges confirmed, the larger the percentage of activist judges on the bench, and the greater the chances of more social engineering of American society from the federal courts.

The GOP establishment will probably give him another pass they like the pork and “influence”. John Ensign (R) the other senator is best buddies with him when he should be a sworn enemy especially since Reid stole the election from him in 1998.
