INDIANAPOLIS For the first time in the state's history, Indiana's credit rating has been raised to AAA, the highest rating assigned by the independent credit rating agency Standard & Poor's Ratings Service (S&P).
The upgrade from AA+, the state's rating since January 2006, "reflects the state's continued strong management that has led to the property tax reform that has realigned state and local spending and is not expected to impact the state's long-term financial performance.

For those who still think Mitch Daniels hasn't succeeded as governor.

All we had to do to get there was to sell a highway.
I hope we sell Irsay stadium next.

For some people, nothing someone who isn’t their candidate can do will ever be good enough. Ever. And that goes for rabid liberals and “true conservatives” alike.
Look to the last two elections, and the current campaign for more examples of this.

Indiana also leads the nation in Foreign investments, is at or near the top in job growth, has a balanced budget for the third straight year.

I moved away from IN last November. I could see Mitch was turning things around in that state and was puzzled by the anti Mitch crowd.... good news for IN....

I'll definitely give him kudos for the jobs he brought around. My area has been hit really hard by job loss.
I won't give him kudos for his sin tax strategy.

As a Terre Haute resident, we're about at the bottom of any economic growth chart, and yet I still see Mitch as a positive leader for Indiana.
His presentation at the GOP State Convention was tremendous.

And Indiana didn't even have to buy their AAA rating like all of the big financial firms do. ;)

I understand that many dislike DST, but I don't expect to be able to agree with everything any candidate says or does. To do so would be a perfect candidate, and I've never seen anyone who comes close to that.
Mitch's positives far out-weigh his negatives. The state is doing far better than the rest of the Midwest and much of the rest of the country.
And frankly, my business has been more successful since DST than before it. I live five miles from the Illinois state line. I like the concept of not having to worry about time zones.

I won't give him kudos for his sin tax strategy. Make that two of us. Mitch needs to cut out his nanny state BS.
We weren't looking for a mother, we were looking for a governor.

(I had almost forgotten that McCain is the nominee. Too bad I was reminded.)

This is very true. I'm still astounded he would attach such importance to an unpopular time change and nanny government at the risk of his second term. Those issues seem a poor use of political capital.

Is that the case, or are you, with all respect, making too much of arather insignificant decision?
To: Military family member
“Insignificant” is in the eye of the beholder.

Insignificant is in the eye of the beholder. True, but having interviewed both candidates for governor that year, plus having attended a dozen or more forums on DST, I can say without a doubt that Indiana was going to get DST regardless of who was elected.
We got 93,000 new jobs, some major investments, three years of balanced budgets, and DST.
Isn't that a fair trade, especially given the alternative?
To: Military family member
Did you interview Ken Gividen?

No, I never had the chance, but I did hear him speak in Indy.

I was one of the three votes he received.
