A stray cat had kittens in our yard. My wife attempted to barricade the kittens in a contained area to protect them from predators. Short of caging them, this proved impossible. The rambunctious kittens escaped my wife's protection to explore, wrestle and play. With every fall, their climbing skills improved. Mama cat taught “gecko catching 101”. Soon the kittens were supplementing their breast milk with gecko snacks. Had my wife been successful in her intrusive attempts to protect them, the kittens' growth would have been stunted leaving them ill equipped to survive.
The kittens scenario illustrates the superiority and compassion of a conservative approach to life over liberal. Liberal politicians always promote lowering standards and intrusive protection programs which ultimately enslave people to government dependency.
For example, despite documented historical proof that speaking one national language is vital to economic success, liberals demand that America become more bilingual. They accuse anyone suggesting that immigrants learn English as being racist.
Conservatives joyfully lend a helping hand when needed. They reject the trap and demoralization of cradle to grave dependency.
My 80 year old black dad shined shoes as a child. On a good night, he earned as much as five dollars. Dad always gave his aunt, who raised him, a portion for board. He remembers purchasing an undershirt. Dad said he proudly bragged to his buddies, “I'm buying my own clothes now!” Dad was experiencing the joy and self esteem which comes from a conservative approach to life vs a liberal approach of receiving a welfare check.
Just as the kittens escaped my wife's crippling liberal protection, I challenge minorities to reject liberal crippling government dependency programs.

The most crippling thing any once can do to themselves is adopt a victim mentality.
Victims have no power, therefore they can never achieve anything.
Another story of hands-off, which I won't be able to tell as eloquently as you, but it is apropros, regarding environmentalism. I can call it:
An Environmental Fable: The Road that Wasn't Built
The manager of a small western cattle ranch, my dad decided to cut a jeep road into a hillside to facilitate delivery of hay. He meant to do it before winter, but was too busy. When winter arrived, he decided he'd have to wait until spring to do it.
That winter, rains caused the hill to crumble and slide, making a jeep road there impossible.
Had he put in the road as he'd planned, there is no question that he'd have attributed the slide to the road -- a disasterous environmental impact.
It makes you wonder: how many natural events have been wrongly attributed to the work of man?
Truly, the enemy isn't the Democrat party. It is liberalism. Really, Lloyd, this is TOPS. Just tops.
Gonna throw cold water on this particular example, though I agree wholeheartedly with the principle you are trying to illustrate. Cats who live outdoors live an average of three years, while house cats live an average of 12 years. Had your wife succeeded in catching them, bringing them inside, taming them down and adopting them out to other responsible people, the kittens would have had longer, healthier and arguably happier lives. Now their lives and fortunes are up in the air.
But cats are cats, and humans are humans. Cats don’t care about freedom and dignity in the same way we do; they care about being comfortable and well-fed.
I’d rather be a free human than a comfortable cat.
Great message and I agree with you 100%. Also I always knew that cats are basically conservative.
Those poor innocent geckos, being exploited and murdered by those fascist right wing Christian kittens. There should have been a government program to provide those kittens with additional, organic, soy based protein so that those geckos didn’t have to die a horrible death.
Gecko are undocumented pets. They are just there for the flies the cats are to lazy to eat.
