Syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak was cited by police after he hit a pedestrian with his black Corvette in downtown Washington, D.C., Wednesday morning.

Who’d he hit, a McCain staffer source?
Well, there you go.
Washington DC ‘IS’ a target rich environment.
Novak drove, people dove.
This is a non-story.
As he traveled east on K. Street, crossing 18th, Bono said a “black Corvette convertible with top closed plowed into the guy. The guy is sort of splayed onto the windshield.
I didnt know I hit him, Novak told Politico. Novak said he was a block away from 18th and K St. NW, where the accident happened, when a bicyclist stopped him and said, “You hit someone.” He said he was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
LOL. First thing he’s hit in years
LOL

My 78 yo father recently told me he “sure could use a car” (He has Alzheimer’s).
I replied “Yeah, as a weapon.”
It appears that Novak has an anger management problem.
How can you hit a guy and he rolls off your windshield, and not know you hit him, unless you have been drinking or are on drugs?
If eternal justice could be had here in the temporal, then the pedestrian would have been Helen Thomas.
I saw Mr. Novak tee off on a gate attendant once at the airport. I was stunned by the ferocity of his outburst.
I told him to take it easy on the lady, and he glared at me.
To which I responded, “oooooh.”
What a putz.
I like Novak, read his recent book and hope everyone is fine.
The guy kicks butt and does the real work of journalists that almost none do.
And he was completely right on the Plame game.
Don't blame Rove.
That is funny!
LOL.
Was that before or after he appeared on Fox & Friends gushing over Obamamessiah and his trip overseas?
We visited DC in Feb.
Pedestrians are constantly stepping out into the streets.
The law gives them the right of way, but it’s difficult to have quick enough reaction to keep from hitting them.
I remember their local news was talking about a sharp increase in accidents with pedestrians.
I think it would be VERY EASY to be involved in this type of accident in DC.
He needs to use the approved AARP excuse: “Sorry officer, I must have accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake”.
He got lost in a fantasy thinking he was Batman racing across Gotham to defeat the Joker (James Carville).
If this witness is correct Novack should be in jail and should be there for a long time.
I think it was right after
Maybe him an Shepard Smith should talk.
i live in NoVA and work in DC and i’ve never hit a soul : ) yes, i am sure there is much more jay walking than elsewhere, but Novak’s problem is his aggressive driving combined with probably slowed reflexes. i hope that he was at least properly horrified by what he’d done. i would have nightmares about it, were it me.
...you "earned it".
ping
How about a pic of Novak`s face p-shopped onto Batman P-shopped in front of a black Vette :-)
The witne3ss says that the pedestrian was in the crosswalk crossing on a green light. He also says that guy was splayed across the windshield and rolled off and Novack just kept driving. If this is the case I hope he does time.

Look at the video. Novak appears to be lying about not seeing the pedestrian. What say you?
Novak said he didn’t see him at all
Would have been after. The article said the accident occured around 10 this morning.
Somebody’s lying.
i am very familiar with the area where it happened and there are always hordes of people crossing there, you just have to wait and yeah, you may even miss your light altogehter. sounds horribly inexcusable if it happened as the witness reports.
Sounds a bit like (CNN) Jack Cafferty’s hit-and-run incident in NY in which he mowed down a cyclist and drove through several red lights with the guy’s bike wedged under his Cadillac and then claimed not to have realized that anything had happened.
You can be talking on your cell phone about McCain's VP pick.
I work out of DC and I won't drive there. I take the train when I need be physically present.
Ohhhhhhhhhh I remember that!
Wondering if the front windshield was caed in? That would b e kinda hard not to notice. As a C owner, you are down on the ground looking up kinda, it would be impossible NOT to see you had hit somebody!

Yes...you’re right.
I wasn’t clear with my comment - I was giving our impression of our visit to the city but not addressing the specifics of this particular accident.
It probably seemed worse to us as we were trying to read road signs and figure out our way while dodging pedestrians at the same time.
But Novak should be accustomed to DC.
Sorry to disappoint you. The man was a pedestrian crossing in the crosswalk with the green light in his favor.
The man splayed onto Novak’s windshield. Novak drove away. When finally stopped he simply said he hadn’t seen the pedestrian.
If the marks on the hood of his car are any indication he's lying. I'm sorry but I find it very hard to believe taht you can hit a guy hard enough to dent your hood, scrape the paint off and have the guy fly up hit your windshield and not notice it.
lol
Ummm, "pie-hole"????
DC is. The Alexandria area and Route 1 South of the beltway is thick with jaywalkers. It's like driving in a 3rd world country...probably because the jaywalkers came from 3rd world countries.
How many people have to die before we get the corvettes off the streets!
