Rep. Rangel Files Ethics Charges Against Himself
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
WASHINGTON House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., filed an ethics complaint against himself Wednesday with the House Ethics Committee.
The move is believed to be unprecedented.
The Washington Post recently ran articles and an editorial raising questions about Rangel's potential involvement in raising money for an academic center named in his honor at City College of New York.

That’s mighty white of him.
I gues that way he can “control” what charges are leveled aganst himself. It must be pretty bad!
And many of us are STILL waiting for all the MOCs who got SPECIAL mortgage deals from Countrywide and others to give us the details and explain how they weren’t SPECIAL.
Unless your favorite facial color is deep blue, don’t hold your breath on that one.
Beat me!
What they're counting on is that you will take them at their word, that they "didn't ask for special treatment".
They certainly don't want you to know that while they didn't ask for special treatment, they actually demanded it.
actually this is not an unprecidented move.
It is actually rather shrewd. It stops any potential gossip accusations and if this is just a fluff accusation for political sport, a clearance from the investigation shuts it down. It also forces the debate into the “pending investigation” arena.
You have to give credit where credit is due.
I knew it would be a race for that one.
Rangel, you’re guilty.
So if he ends up getting fined, does he pay it to himself? Brilliant!
It is interesting because I believe that by filing against himself he can then control the situation and easily use the 5th so as not to reveal anything about himself in court, the house or any other legal tribunal.
It might be along the lines of judge Pickering who was to be impeached by the New Hampshire democrats at the behest of president Jefferson on absolutely no evidence of anything (sound familiar?). He feigned (at least some authors believe he faked it) and declared insanity and his lawyer argued that they could not impeach him for mental illness. The dems were stumped and PO’d but had to keep him on and give up the impeachment.
The Sheriff’s near!
For anyone who doesn't know it, the so-called "anti-war" group International A.N.S.W.E.R. was formed by leaders of the Workers World Party (and mere days after the 911 attacks). WWP is a collection of pro-North Korea Stalinists based in New York City. When A.N.S.W.E.R. was eventually outed as a communist front, WWP started up a new "peace" group called Troops Out Now. Democrat chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Charlie Rangel, actually gives speeches at their rallies and the New York City media looks the other way -also is never confronted by Hannity or O'Reilly about it.
Here below is a photo from the WWP's own website of W&Ms chairman Rangel at the podium of a March 19, 2005 WWP/TON "anti-war" rally in NYC. The date marked the 2nd anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. Other prominent lefties who spoke at the rally were the former attorney general under democrat president LBJ, Ramsey Clark , and Lynne Stewart , convicted of aiding islamic terrorists. Clark heads the International Action Center and had a major role in the formation of A.N.S.W.E.R. All three organizations, The International Action Center, Troops Out Now and Workers World Party have headquarters at the same exact location in New York City.

"On July 9 (1994), Workers World Party Chairperson Sam Marcy sent the following statement to Comrade Kim Jong Il, the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea and the State Funeral Committee of President Kim Il Sung.":
"Dear Comrade Kim Jong Il ...
The National Committee of Workers World Party extends our deepest condolences on the passing of the great leader of the Korean people, Comrade President Kim Il Sung.
Comrade Kim Il Sung devoted his whole life to the Korean people's struggle for national self-determination and the international working-class struggle for socialist emancipation. With his leadership, the Korean people defeated the Japanese colonial occupation and soon after brought about the first defeat of the U.S. imperialist military machine.
For over 40 years since the armistice, the U.S. military has continued to occupy the south of Korea with troops and nuclear weapons. This occupation has been the chief obstacle to peaceful reunification of Korea and poses the chief danger of a new war on the peninsula." ...
"Workers World Party values our close, comradely relations with the Workers Party of Korea very highly. We are proud to have known Kim Il Sung as a great leader and a comrade in the international communist movement. ...
With comradely solidarity, Sam Marcy Chairperson, Workers World Party":

Must be trying to divert attention away from something more serious.
Rangel indulging in autoeroticism in public? What an exhibitionistic moron.
Most likely. When I saw the headline, for some reason I remember what I heard as a kid at a baseball game ... folks yelling “Throw da bum out!”
I wonder why he also didn’t file charges against himself for the rent-stabilized apartment he was using as an office.
Doesn’t he have four rent-stabilized apartments?
From the brilliant mind of Mel Brooks
“Hey, Torquemada, what do you say?
I just got back from the auto-da-fe.
Auto-da-fe?
Whats the auto-da-fe?
Its what you oughtn’t to do - but you do anyway.”
What could be more serious than him working with groups and individuals who seek to undermine our military and ultimately destroy the country? There's enough incriminating info in my earlier post on this thread to at least begin an investigation of this SOB. Yet no one seems to give a crap, particularly Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly who have the guy on their programs practically once a week. I've been sending them this stuff for several years. The wussies are too scared to confront him I guess.
Rangel's ties to communist organization, Workers World Party / Troops Out Now:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2050008/posts?page=17#17
I’m not sure if it’s 3 or 4, but the way it was explained by other Freepers, his residence was formed from 2-3 apartments, and then he had a separate apartment he was using as a campaign office. I guess it’s legal to use multiple rent-stabilized apartments to make one living space, but the office was a no-no. Frankly, in my eyes, he’s still getting a break because he was allowed to create one rent-stabilized apartment out of 2-3 of them. Just another sleight of hand by a Demonrat.
