TALLAHASSEE (Bay News 9) -- Desperate for votes and armed with new technologies, political parties are changing the way they find their voters.
They're tracking everything from the food people eat to the car they drive. The sophisticated strategy is called microtargeting.
Republicans pioneered microtargeting four years ago. They say it contributed to George W. Bush being re-elected.
Katie Gordon with the state GOP says people who own guns are their top microtargets.
"What we do is contact people and ask them, and maybe people who have not supported a Republican in the past or who have not indicated that they even are going to be voting this election cycle; and ask them what their feeling is on the Second Amendment," Gordon said.
Ben King is the man behind the Democrats new microtargeting software. The software relies on marketing data they bought.
The theory goes, if someone drives a Ford or a Chevy, they're likely to vote Republican. If they drive a Volvo, chances are they're a Democrat.
Every homeschooler knows the Democrats are salivating to destroy their right to school. It's the first thing on my mind, come political season. It's more important to me than gas or the economy or anything else.
No Volvos here...
2 Chevy’s and a Jeep
Chevy Trailblazer
Chevy blazer
Corvette Z06 (Chevy)
Dodge Ram
That figures...you do know the difference between a porcupine and a Volvo, don't you?
With the porcupine, the pricks are on the outside.
Well, we drive Toyotas and Hondas but they don’t count because we change our own oil.
However, just to make sure, I’ll go put some NRA stickers on them.
The Democrats have the Subaru, Volvo and Saab vote sewed up.
PT Cruiser
Toyota Corolla
20 year old Chevy pickup
2 60+ year old Farmall tractors.
I may be the only Republican to drive a Subaru (Forester).
I kinda like the Imprezza WRX’s, but that figures as I think I’m a lesbian trapped in a man’s body.
LOL! The WRX’s are pretty sweet.
Never driven anything but a Chevy except for my ‘66 GTO.
2000 Corvette C5
Son: 2003 Corvette Z06
I'm still a conservative. Used to be a republican I have had three Subarus.
To me anyone that would drive a Volvo ranks just behind a hippie going 40 on the freeway in a VW Bus!
My PU is 43 years old but it is a Chevy and gets it’s best mileage at 75-80mph.
Before I knew anything about who drives what, back in early eighties, I bought a Volvo. Worst piece of cr*p I ever purchased. Kept that thing 11 years though — now I’m happy with a nice Japanese car.
NRA stickers on a Honda, I like it.
Re the Saab -— oops, I know a big-time executive who is a Republican and also loves Saabs! Better clue him in!
You're forgiven because of the climate you live in. 4 wheel drive in the snow just makes sense. Lots of Subarus in New Hampshire and Maine Republican driveways, too.
Chevy Suburban
Chevy Tahoe
Chevy Silverado PU
I don’t need no stinking hybrids!. A trip to the gas station to fill them all up will put me back about $400. Good thing I can only drive one at a time.
2002 Mazda 626
Volvo is a ford product.
Nope. I drive a Chrysler Pacifica and my wife drives a Chrysler Concorde.
It might be a Ford product now, but not when I had mine — I should’ve been so lucky, actually.

!998 Chev Silverado
1999 Chev Camero SS
1992 Chev Camero RS
it is also a 4-cylinder which helps the wallet.
When my kid complains about his Jeep 4x4 w/plow, I tell him, quit kvetching - you are driving a mercedes!
(Actually, he loves it. LOL)
*snort*
Ford owns Volvo.
That is like saying if someone drives a GM car they are a Republican but if they drive a Saturn they are a democrat.
I had a 740 turbo wagon. It scooted onto the freeway like a scalded cat. I also have owned several VW buses, and Westies. I admit to having registered D until 1976, and first voted R in 1980.
I just bought a 1990 M-B 300 TE4-Matic, for $800. I need to gas the a/c, but drove it home from DC (about 125 miles). Everything works, and I am ready for what WV winter roads have to offer...
Things must be different out there. All the rich people I know are Democrats.
“Volvo is a ford product.”
Fix Or Repair Daily
Found On Road Dead
well, the Saab acronym describes 'Rats quite nicely - Something An A$$hole Buys...
Only if it has a gun rack, a confederate flag and a “Jesus” fish, right?
I know, but snotty volvo owners should probably be informed that they are, in reality, driving a ford, don’t you think?
The other Ford phraze was First On Race Day but that got scrapped in 1954 when we held the D Roadster record @ 154 until the last day at Bonneville when Voight & Colb showed up with their hemi DeSoto in their 32 and went 176.
4 Fords and a Cadillac...
I don’t associate with and will not do work for democrats and/or Volvo drivers (same thing).
Well, GM did become a sponsor of both Limbaugh and Hannity.
You’re not. My daughter loves them, as does my son-in-law. Both are former Marines, and not likely Obama supporters...
‘07 Silverado crew cab 4x4
‘94 Jeep Cherokee
‘76 Jeep CJ5 w/V8
Wow, slow down there. My boss drives a volvo, as do some of my employees.
I assure you, NONE of them are democrats or liberals or anything of the sort.
More like, they all believe that you use the right tool for the job at hand.
As an example - I have an EPA-certified greenie-wienie woodstove in my house. Am I trying to save the earth?
Nope. I am a cheap bastard.
Loved the black comic, about twenty years ago, who went into this rant, “What gives y’all WHITE people, .... in y’alls VOLVOS, .... with y’alls “Baby on Board” stickers, the RIGHT... TO CUT ME OFF!!!!!”
2 Corvettes
1 Jeep
3 Rifles
2 Shotguns
2 Pistols
5,000 rounds of ammo
Enough tools to fix almost anything
Prepared for hurricane and other foreseeable emergency
Slightly to the right of Gengis Khan (the real one)
I just bought my Jeep. I never owned one before. Man I love it!
Nah. A conservative friend of mine has two Foresters.
As for me; I drive a Ford F-150 (2003) and my wife drives a Ford Escape Hybrid (2005).
Very little margin of error on this one.
