The Democrats are all too eager to go after anyone who offends them, and it seems as if President Bush will not lift a finger to defend them.

Marines should stand up for Marines who do their duty. They always have in the past. And Presidents should stand up for their loyal subordinates who do their duty, too. That’s part of a commander’s job.

Murtha’s problems are just beginning. Lt. Col. William Russell (R) will be returning from active duty in Iraq Aug.1 and he will be free to resume campaigning against the disgraced King of Pork, Murtha.

Even though Lt. Col. Russell was barred from active fundraising because of his military service, his campaign took in $670,000 in Q2 vs. Murtha’s $119,000.

With this verdict, the Marines are vindicated and Murtha looks like a 21st century Benedict Arnold.

Best wishes to Lt. Col. Russell and his plans to retire Murtha from the U.S. Congress.
