After her brief visit to Perth, the United States Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, will fly to New Zealand tonight.
Dr Rice will fly into Auckland tonight and her minders will need to be on alert after a student group announced a reward for anyone who could arrest her.
Auckland University's Student Association is offering $5,000 to anyone who can make a citizen's arrest.
Association president David Do says Ms Rice should be ashamed of her role in the Iraq war.
"I think New Zealanders have an inherent sense of fairness and justice and they understand why we are doing it," he said.
"They see the link between what the US has done to the people of Iraq."
He says while the New Zealand Government opposed the war in Iraq, he doubts he would have Prime Minister Helen Clark's support if a citizens arrest actually happens.
How about the people of NZ arrest the student for being a traitor to humanity and supporting the Islamofascists instead?
What an arrogant, stupid thing to say and do.
LOSERS!!!!!
Wait until Islam murders you in cold blood. Of course, they will probably surrender and convert.
i like the “inherent sense of fairness and justice”!
I would like to see one of those asshats try to get through her security.
The DSS are just itching for a beat down. Why doesn;t this “brave” Assoc. president do it himself?
Ping, before the Kiwi bashing begins...
He could try it himself. It would be fun watching the secret service detail throw him to the ground and sit on his head.
Sounds like the kiwis got a hold of some bad “smoke.”
Let’s see . . . New Zealand + Activist College Students.
Does anyone have a better equation for coming up with COMPLETELY USELESS?
We will stand alone.
Meanwhile; codepink, answer, acorn and several members of congress have tried to do the same thing within the U.S., not only to Rice but to Pres Bush and Vice Pres Cheney. Are you ready to "surrender and convert?"
“Inherent sense of fairness and justice?” LOL. The problem lies in these students even being led to think that they have a right to act like this and say these things.
“We will stand alone.”
Indeed.
Of course they're arrogant and stupid - they're college students living on someone else's dime and with nothing better to do than concoct idiotic and useless schemes like this. They know they can't get within 500 feet of Condi Rice, so they can boast and strut without ever being put to the test. It's the libs' version of a panty raid.
Nice scenery, but don't want your input. G'day mates.
After consuming aprox. 4 or 5 chili dogs
Student libs...always good for a joke. The funniest part is when they leave college and have to go get real jobs. Now, I don’t care who you are...that’s funny!
I would not trust a group like that to pay up once the arrest was accomplished, as unlikely as that is.
They have the right to think or say anything they want to. It's called freedom. What is sad is these idiots do not understand that their right to be stupid was bought and paid for by better people than they can ever hope to be.
Exactly. The U.S. has liberated the people of Iraq from the yoke of a ruthless dictator.
Apparently, there are alot of moonbats in Kiwi land.
Yeah...nEW zEALANDERS were always at the front of the pack on that....met one on RnR...complete WHoosh!...lol
It's the libs' version of a panty raid.
Yup. A fantasy by a bunch of childish losers.
Bingo!...Post of the day on this thread!
Sure, kid. It was a real crime overthrowing a murdering despot and replacing a vicious police state with a democracy. We're...so...guilty...
Secretary Rice can certainly have these pukes added to the “not allowed entry” list.
The older generation was different, however. Much different. That generation understood what the U.S.A. did for them in the 40s and still appreciated it. I will never forget one particular man I met on New Year's Day - 1983. He took then entire day to show me around Christchurch, spend time with his family, and show me the best pubs in town. At every occasion, he would introduce me to people and express his undying memory of what the "Yanks" had done to protect his homeland.
I forgot to explicitly draw the comparison to what should be said one day in the future when an American is traveling in Iraq.
I hope.
In a country as beautiful as New Zealand - it’s easy to see how their people can become convinced the world is an enchanted place inhabited by nice people and devoid of cockroaches...
Folks like the New Zealanders expect other people will take out the trash and protect them from the bad guys....
Agreed.
it used to be that college students debated each other
on foreign policy.
now, this is just emotionalism
and mean=spirited,
to use their word.
David Do is so worthy of his New Zealand citizenship, but he would have been much better off running his Pie Hole in Vietnam, where his family fled from.
New Zealand? What happened to Old Zealand?
Does anyone in here know "Shut the F* Up" in Maori?
> Auckland University’s Student Association is offering $5,000 to anyone who can make a citizen’s arrest.
They are, of course, idiots. And the Student Association’s $5,000 is perfectly safe. It will never be collected.
And I hope some bloody idiots try to collect: the full force of our Laws can be brought to bear against them, and it would be a good bloody thing if it did: a couple more scroats in gaol for doing something dumb will keep our streets safer from student morons.
There are very precise parameters that surround the so-called Citizen’s Arrest and the use of force, found in the Crimes Act 1961 Sections 35-49. Step outside those parameters (as they invariably would) and you are in serious trouble.
Those of us who use these provisions carefully get mighty peeved when fools like this misuse them.
Go Condy, and welcome to New Zealand! Please enjoy your visit to our country, and ignore our morons: every country has ‘em, and unfortunately in New Zealand they have human rights, and these include the right to be morons in public.
Crikey.
"Take your hand out of your pocket and everybody can stay friends, Yank." as one older gentleman said.
I calls them as I sees them.
bttt
> Folks like the New Zealanders expect other people will take out the trash and protect them from the bad guys....
You don’t normally post ignorant, sweeping generalizations, mate. This one is very disappointing.
Perhaps I should have said:
Folks like THESE New Zealanders........
It would have been more accurate and factual, eh mate?
> It would have been more accurate and factual, eh mate?
(grin) Unfortunately it is only our lunaticks who seem to attract media attention. Our troops deployed in Afghanistan and our firefighters in California don’t seem to warrant much mention at all.
Auckland University is well-known for having a radical student body: they talk tuff but for the most part they are pretty harmless. I guess it’s their way of letting off steam before they have to get real jobs.
For them, “Animal House” was a documentary, not a comedy.
From all reports, Condy has enjoyed her trip here, and we’ve really enjoyed having her.
There is even talk of the US and NZ perhaps resuming joint military exercises again. This would be a brilliant outcome, as NZ is deployed in Iraq against the Taliban and is likely to be working with US troops anyway.
I’d be surprised if our elite forces don’t already exercise with Americans, but it will be good for this to once again become the norm for our entire Armed Forces.
Currently residing in Kalifornicate — I am MORE than familiar with the fact that only the radical lunatics get the press...
We have more than our share of thugs, drugs, leaches, welfare brood mares, Leftists, Marxists, sexual perverts and tree sitters.....
This is a far more target rich environment than New Zealand — So I offer a heartfelt apology....
A fact that few here are aware of — is the Kiwis sent a significant force to fight along side of the U.S. and Australia in Vietnam — being the first time they fought in tactical alignment with us, rather than with the Brits.
worst case of bullshitius I ever saw.
> A fact that few here are aware of is the Kiwis sent a significant force to fight along side of the U.S. and Australia in Vietnam being the first time they fought in tactical alignment with us, rather than with the Brits.
It’s true. NZ also had a sizable force in Korea, and in the occupational forces of Japan. With any luck (and hopefully with a change in NZ Government) our countries will work closer together most of the time, because that is the natural order of things.
I had a couple beers with a pair of our Vietnam vets on Saturday: they are regulars at the RSA (like your Legion). Great blokes, one of them uses a walker and is nearly crippled, the other is a huge lad 6’2” tall and 250 lbs easily, and you never see one without the other being somewhere around.
Vietnam vets were my heroes when I was a kid: still are.
