I am a VHCM member, I spent 12 months in Vietnam (147th CH47-CE) as most of us did.
I am also a disabled veteran; I have been a wheelchair user for 35 years now.
A few months ago I went to listen to Barack Obama at a local college. When he was done with his speech I got in line to ask him a question. When my time came, my question was:
' Senator Obama ; I work with disabled veterans throughout the VA Hospital system, what is your plan for our veterans, especially our disabled veterans who use the VA Hospitals for their care. I stated we need mandatory funding for our VA system to ensure the care is available when needed, especially in light of the current situation in Iraq and the numbers of troops who are coming home with severe disabilities.'
He told one of his aide's to get my name, blew me off, did not answer my question and I never heard from him or the aide again!
Is this who we want as our 'Commander in Chief'? I certainly don't.
He wouldn't even answer a 'veterans' question, regarding other veterans.
Take it for what it's worth.. just thought I'd pass on my experience with Mr. Obama.

Typical liberal politician clinging to his empty rhetoric and lies.

Funny that he couldn’t articulate it since the Vet’s For Obama website has the following.
http://vetsforobama.org/barack-obama-on-veterans/
Barack Obamas Plan A Sacred TrustBarack Obama believes America has a sacred trust with our veterans. He is committed to creating a 21st Century Department of Veterans Affairs that provides the care and benefits our nation?s veterans deserve.
Allow All Veterans Back into the VA: One of Obamas first acts will be reversing the 2003 ban on enrolling modest-income veterans, which has denied care to a million veterans.
Strengthen VA Care: Obama will make the VA a leader of national health care reform so that veterans get the best care possible. He will improve care for polytrauma vision impairment, prosthetics, spinal cord injury, aging, and womens health.
Combat Homelessness among Our Nations Veterans: Obama will establish a national zero tolerance policy for veterans falling into homelessness by expanding proven programs and launching innovative services to prevent veterans from falling into homelessness.
Fight Veterans Employment Discrimination: Obama will crack down on employers who commit job discrimination against guardsmen and reservists.
While the gov't should pay for veterans care there is no reason at all why the gov't should actually provide the care. The gov't should buy a great insurance policy for every vet. The reason Vet care is often no good is because, well, they are government hospitals.
There is NO doubt in my mind that W would have spent some time with this Vet.
PING!!!
Obama and his gang could’nt care less about wounded veterans. Casualty lists are only fuel for their propaganda machine. I only pray that enough of the electorate will see them for the insidious evil that they are, before it is too late.
Re; # 7
Beautiful!
Thanks ncfool, that one really made my day.

Numbers for the ‘reactionaries’, like ncfool’s Obama graphic says about the flag pin.
Happy Independance Day,

April 15 for Obama and the Democrats.

trafficking of drugs, and guns, and gangs in the Americas." -- Barack Hussein Obama - Tuesday, July 15, 2008 "I had learned not to care. I blew a few smoke rings, ![]() |

You are really fast with the graphics. You only just came up with that seal this morning.
You’re fortunate that you happened to ask the question at a time when Obama is trying to improve his image with the military and retirees. Otherwise he wouldn’t have bothered to ask his assistant to get your name.
I’m not Gary. And the assistant never followed up and got the information.
I like your thinking. I'm a 40% disabled Vet, and even though I qualify for care at the VA Clinic I opt to use my civilian insurance. I've tried using the VA clinic a couple of times and had very negative experiences.
I have to wait six months for an appointment.
I was assigned a doctor who didn't speak English - his nurse had to translate for him.
The doctor wrote me a prescription that almost killed me and it took six months to get back in to get the correct medicine.
The VA "killed" me off and it took 8 months and numerous personal visits to correct the problem and get my benefits reinstated.
They made appointments for me without consulting me. I would end up with an appointment at a clinic 140 miles away at 0700. That meant missing a at least a full day of work for each appointment.
The government should allow disabled vets to participate in TRICARE-PRIME - the same insurance plan that retirees use. They should pay the $500 a year premium.
I forgive you this time, but don't let it happen again!
So would McCain and his possible VP Romney. There is quite a difference between the candidates in spite of what some on this forum are saying.
Obama's greasy finger slipped off the button and he voted "absent" again.
You are right, I think I am going to drop my opposition to a left wing liberal because he might be a little nicer to a vet that stops him after a speech. That's a good reason to keep the country marching down the same disastrous path.
::lauhing!::
:)
I’m always a bit suspicious about the claims in these “chain emails.” No matter, anything Obama might say is suspect.
My post is first generation of this letter though :)
Not a forward of a forward of a forward.
So you know Gary McDermott ? It seems like lots of folks do.
You're right on one fact and that is that vet care is conducted at govt. hospitals. But to expect the govt. to revamp its entire health care system to accomodate military personnel throughout the entire United States would be an astronomical financial nightmare.
The solution to the problem is to improve the existing care at our nations Veterans hospitals........
As a side note, for those folks advocating nationalized health care who do not wish to look at Canada or Europe to see how those systems have failed, simply look at our own Veterans hospitals........
I wish somebody, anybody, asks him where he stands on reparations.
Wake up Americans, he is an empty suit with a “I’m better than you, I know better than you, and how DARE YOU even bother to ask me a question.
Just sent that Some pic to my kin, good job.We really don’t need the New Yorkers’ help, there’s enough ammo out there already.

I’m not commenting further.
>>>I wish somebody, anybody, asks him where he stands on reparations.
Since it is his Tribe that controlls the mines in East Africe, that WOULD be a hoot to find out where he stands on reparations for enslavement.
You know, when I see Obomber and Ayers there, it really ticks me off.
Tick! Tick! ... Boom !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
Great work (artwork) is what I mean. :^D
Super Duper pic, PL!
Really good. :)
.
Great graphic & post potlatch!
I am continuously amazed at the number of people I hear say that 'insurance' is the solution!!!!!!! Insurance is the Problem people! I have spent a career with 'private insurance' giving me Zip for HEALTHCARE! Finally went to the VA a few of years ago and have received only the best HEALTHCARE in the country since. Be careful what you wish for!
Yes, he posts great artwork!
Thank you Meek, sometimes you can spend a whole day making something and get no response, it’s unreal.
Finally bought a new 22 inch monitor and installed it today, it’s HUGE and so bright! Had a 19 inch before but it was getting dim.
Yes, from yesterday. Thank you.

The guy is listed at the 147th Hillclimbers website (he made a comment some years ago upon finding the site and is on the roster).
You might want to take a look at this
http://www.vaughanpva.org/newsletters%202007/2006-2007%20Annual%20Report.pdf
or google gary mcdermott pva. This is obviously a real guy. The question is, did he really attempt to question and get dissed by Obama?
FYI:
Middlesex County Repubs are hosting his regional office and there is a Vets Steering Committee in the process of being assembled.
He did as per officers at MOPH.
