Is it wrong to have a serious crush on the “First Dude” of Alaska and the future Second Gentleman of the United States? Because if crushing on Todd Palin is wrong, then man, we do not want to be right. We just want to listen to him talk about snowmachines and huskies and hockey for hours and hours and hours. When we met him in St. Louis the weekend of Palin’s announcement as VP, we couldn’t even talk, we just kind of giggled and stared and the only thought in our head was TODD. TODD. Oh, it was stupefying…and it...

In Rochester today, Hillary spoke at her greatest length so far about Sarah Palin. "I think that a lot of people were excited to see the Republicans have a woman on their ticket. We had a woman vice presidential candidate in 1984; the Republicans have one this year. I think that is something to be excited about because it is a change. But that's not reason enough to vote for the McCain-Palin ticket," she said, according to a transcript from NY1 News. She also spoke of the way women are covered by the press. Pew Research Center and backup polls report that devout Roman Catholics have found a friend in Sarah Palin. What is not known to many is that Sarah Palin was as an infant baptized Roman Catholic. Then her parents turned to Pentecostalism, specifically the Assembly of God. Consequently, she was reared in evangelical Protestantism. What evangelicals and devout Catholics have in common is high regard for the Bible as divine revelation, believing Christ as Savior God, and the biblical moral base. They both also hold that each human being is accountable to the God of the Bible at the Judgment Seat...

McCain and Palin have made drilling for oil a central part of their platform, so much so that "Drill, baby, drill!" is now a regular McCain-Palin rally chant.</p>

As if it couldn't support itself, Alaska also ranks No. 1, year after year, in money it sucks in from Washington. In 2005 (the most recent figures), according to the Tax Foundation, Alaska ranked 18th in federal taxes paid per resident ($5,434) but first in federal spending received per resident ($13,950). Its ratio of federal spending received to federal taxes paid ranks third among the 50 states, and in the absolute amount it receives from Washington over and above the amount it sends to Washington, Alaska ranks No. 1.

Young is 239 votes ahead of Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell after a count of absentee and questioned ballots ended early this (Saturday) morning. That's up from his 151-vote lead after the August 26 primary election. Overseas absentee ballots are still being accepted until next Wednesday when they will be counted. In 2006, when Sarah Palin and Sean Parnell ran for governor and lieutenant governor in Alaska, their campaign slogan was "New Energy for Alaska." I think there is a lot of truth to Sarah Palin's one-liner, during her acceptance speech at the GOP convention, to the effect that the presidency is not supposed to be a voyage of self-discovery. Before delivering that line, she ought to have warned everyone who's read Barack Obama's first book not to be mid-gulp of any beverage. But Obama's self-absorption and messianic status aside, I am not a fan of the McCain campaign's slogan, "Country...

Let me begin with a big caveat: the McCain campaign still faces big structural obstacles. The Republican base is shrunken like a week old tomato on a sunlit window sill. Obama still has a bit of a lead in most recent polls, and despite the fact that his lead has always been narrow, and despite the fact that, on paper, his lead ought to be a lot larger, it is still better to hold a lead than to lose it. Nor did McCain's choice of a much younger running mate make him any younger, and his age remains his most...

I think the PUMAs are the most objective political presence in this election cycle. Sure, they supported Hillary Clinton, but they were able to break out of party shackles and objectively see that Obama points their party in the wrong direction. One interesting observation is their surprise at how Democratic party leaders allowed Hillary to be maligned while the Republican party stood by Sarah Palin, even in her darkest hour. Some of those attacks against Hillary were harsh and frequently sexist. Such as Obama's comment about Hillary and "periodic" rage. (VIDEO AT LINK) Of course, one can argue that this...

If Barack Obama was born on August 14, 1961 - then his mother was likely pregnant sometime in October of 1960. Since Obama's mother was born on November 29th, 1942 that would make her pregnant at 17. Last time I checked... Leave it to the solipsistic, dead tree media to get it wrong once again. They are trying to come to terms with McCain's selection of Sarah Palin and what a masterstroke it was. They buy into the Obama "hope and change" B.S. then defend his choice of Joe Biden as V.P, yet when a true example of change smacks them upside the dome, they bash it. 2004 US Senate Elections These are the states I am watching: Florida: I believe that Martinez will help Bush here. I think Cubans that are having doubts about Bush will support him when they vote for Martinez. I think most Hispanics would like to have Martinez representing them and that will push him past Castor. Castor comes off very old and too loyal to the “party.” And she is in real trouble when she has to explain about how she handled the “terrorist professor” when she was the president of USF. She has been around in politics for over ten...

Gannett Fails One-Newspaper Communities/Counties- Port Huron Times Herald a Queue for Government Intervention? In particular, with today’s concentration of all reporting medium with just a few companies- who determines the void or lack of reporting in the best interest to citizens. I’ve challenged a Gannett newspaper, the Times Herald of Port Huron Michigan of its obligation citizens in one-newspaper counties. There appears to be an immediate need to make certain legislation be brought requiring corporate newspapers to better report news and serving the communities they cover. At a crucial time with the 2004 Primary literally days away- this particular newspaper,...

“A Michigan Impossible until we work together ending illegal state house electioneering practices” Joe Alloway-R Michigan House District 81 St. Clair County Michigan PORT HURON – JULY 11, 2004 - Please listen to a recent interview (http://66.92.134.175/~benburch/old/TrupianoShow-(10-5-2004).mp3) exposing Michigan’s #1 area to reform and that’s ending illegal activities in Michigan’s House Republican Caucus Communications Office! Very few citizens asked have no idea of what that word means. Folks, the bottom line is we’ve had some major problems in this antiquated, 50-person staffed office and they’re just coming public. Take recent revelations of state employees assigned to representatives as campaign managers...

I just got back last week from driving across the country, I live in Washington State and drove to PA in see my wifes family and took I-80 and I-90 back home. With my Bush/Cheney sticker from 2000 in my back window along with my W-04 sticker I got a aproviel rating of about 75% judging from the honks and thumbs ups from fellow drivers. Funny how I got the 1 finger salute from the folks with the Kerry stickers. My question to you is do you vent your hate and anger at fellow drivers on the road with a...

Last night, I was told that a report was recently published by some DC think-tank. This report ranked members of congress in order of taxpayer-friendliness, i.e. it examined their votes on tax-related bills and determined where any particular member of congress came in on higher or lower taxes for their constituents. The same person who told me about the report told me that a whopping 75% of house and senate members from my state were in the top 20 LEAST friendly to taxpayers in their voting records. Have any of you heard of this report? Can you point me to...

I've seen the senate races heating up, but not nearly as much on the house seats. I'm mostly using information from DC POLITICAL REPORT and POLITICS1. STATES Alabama DISTRICT 3 - The other Mike Rogers (R) won in 02 with 50.3% over Democrat Joe Turnham(48.2%) in an open seat. So far, it looks as he is facing Democrat Bill Fuller, Ex-State Human Resources Commissioner. I haven't heard much about this race, but the first defense is hardest. Alaska SENATE - Lisa Murkowski(R) vs Ex governor Tony Knowles. This will be a tough race as Knowles is an ex-governor and Murkowski...
