Despite the hoopla of the Democratic National Convention and the great publicity for Democratic nominee Barack Obama this week, he has not received much of a boost in the public opinion polls. In fact, his poll numbers have declined slightly. The pick of U.S. Senator Joseph Biden has been a big failure and has not helped the ticket at all. According to the National Journal, Barack Obama is the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate, while Biden is the third most liberal member. Since this ticket is so liberal and the American people are starting to focus on the...

The Obama campaign has launched a new ad that fails to dispute a single fact in the American Issues Project's initial ad questioning Barack Obama's relationship with admitted domestic terrorist, William Ayers. "This response ad is more smoke and mirrors from a candidate desperate to obscure his longstanding relationship with admitted domestic terrorist William Ayers," said Ed Martin, American Issues Project's president. "Senator Obama is pretending to barely know the man who hosted the launch of his political career and with whom he has worked for years to advance a liberal agenda." Sen. Obama has defended his friend Ayers as...

The Texas GOP is accusing Barack Obama of leaving his own family out to dry after reports surfaced that his half-brother George is living in a run-down hut in Kenya. The Daily Telegraph and other publications have recently drawn attention to the unusual report in the Italian edition of Vanity Fair, which tracked down George Hussein Onyango in the outskirts of Nairobi. He apparently spoke to the magazine for the first time, telling them he lives on less than a dollar a month, and that “no one knows who I am.” The Republican Party of Texas released a Web video...

I know that most of my visitors have been linked here from lib propaganda sites using me as an example. I get the joke: I am the only black man for McCain. Hilarious. Never mind that there are several others at my church alone who agree with me. What surprises me is the litany of racist, sexist and generally disrespectful comments I have been inundated with over the past 72 hours. Here are just a few: “I’ve heard of the Log Cabin Republicans. Is this site the Uncle Tom’s Cabin Republicans?” “Silly black man, McCain is for honkies!” “Idiot, Republicans...

Barack Obama leads John McCain by five percentage points in Pennsylvania for the second month in a row. Both candidates have lost some support from a month ago, with the Democrat now favored by 45% while his Republican opponent earns the vote from 40%. When “leaners” are included, Obama’s lead is down to just three points, 48% to 45%. A month ago, Obama led by six when leaners were included. The data in Pennsylvania reflects patterns seen elsewhere in recent polling. McCain has more support from Republicans than Obama does from Democrats, and McCain also wins more crossover votes from...

In attempts to hopelessly salvage the non-existent momentum from his failed Health Care Press Conference, Cornyn challenger Rick Noriega wrote into the Dallas Morning News in a humorous OP-ED piece. Noriega blasts Cornyn for voting "against expanding health insurance coverage for Texas kids." He later goes on to admit that Texas needs "real health care security for their families, lowered costs for employers, and more transparency and accountability than our current system provides. "I find this hysterical on multiple levels: 1) Cornyn worked to lower the cost of insurance coverage for employers, so essentially Noriega praises Cornyn's work. 2) The...

This is deeply troubling. Acorn is responsible for voter fraud in several states. They pay their workers a fee to register new voters. They have been found to sign up people who are convicted felons, illegal immigrants, dead people, etc. Several people from multiple states have been indicted. Acorn is closely affiliated with the Democratic party and they have also been found to throw out Republican registration forms -- leaving citizens unable to vote on election day. It is a disgrace that any taxpayer money would go to such a corrupt group. The housing bill signed Wednesday by President George...

Democrat Barack Obama defeats Republican John McCain 51% to 44% in an election for President of the United States in Washington State today, 08/13/08, 83 days until the election, according to this latest SurveyUSA pre-election tracking poll conducted exclusively for KING-TV in Seattle and KATU-TV in Portland Oregon. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released one month ago, when Obama led by 16 points, Obama is down by 4 points; McCain is up 5. Among women, Obama had led by 22, now leads by 15. Among men, Obama had lead by 10, now trails by 1. Among voters younger than...

...and becomes the laughing stock of Texas politics. He has nary a dime in the bank and now we find out he needs an entire tech support team to run a simple webcast. Dallas Morning News has the story. But the beginning is the best part: There he was, trying to attract Texans' attention by holding a Webcast town hall meeting to answer voter questions about his U.S. Senate race. Two minutes later, Democrat Rick Noriega's show turned to static. Lots of static. Then the camera tilted upside down. Then more static. The screen went to black. A few voters'...

DENVER (CBS4) ― Hotels and restaurants in downtown Denver are planning to wine and dine guests in town for the Democratic National Convention with some politically inspired food and drink. Elway's at the Ritz Carlton, that hotel's bar and the Corner Office Restaurant at the Curtis Hotel are among the eateries and watering holes with some creative offerings. The bar at the Ritz Carlton has two special cocktails for DNC guests. The patriotic drink is red, white and blue and called "changing tide." The bar is also offering the Obama Granite Martini. "Guest walks up to the bar, they're going...

In an election for President of the United States held in Virginia today, 08/11/08, 12 weeks to Election Day, John McCain and Barack Obama tie, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted for WDBJ-TV in Roanoke and WJLA-TV in Washington DC. Today, it's McCain 48%, Obama 47%, within the survey's 3.9 percentage point margin of sampling error, effectively even. Obama leads by 13 points in SE Virginia and by 11 points in the NE Virginia; McCain leads by 23 in the Shenandoah and by 5 in Central Virginia. McCain holds 89% of the GOP base. Obama holds 86% of the Democrat...

Readers may recall that I'm a bit down on the prospect of John McCain finding a running mate who will do him more good than harm. However, one person who might fit this description is John Kasich. He was a popular nine-term Congressman from Ohio, a state Republicans desperately need to carry. And he's originally from western Pennsylvania, another key area. Kasich seems to possess a blue collar appeal that his party desperately needs. To be sure, he was never a Senator or a Governor, but he held a leadership position in the House, serving as Chairman of the Budget...

Obama goes for the rural Missouri vote... One dilly bar at a time. The Missouri Republican Party started questioning the validity of Obama's new field offices on Friday after it was reported one in Sikeston appears to be a Dairy Queen -News-Leader. And, the Obama Campaign staffers are not actually in theri rural Nixa, Missouri offices. In fact, they haven't signed the lease yet. But, they do set up a table and chairs in the parking lot certain hours of the day. The News-Leader reported: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's winning strategy in Missouri rests on getting votes in rural...

RICHMOND, Va. -- Former Virginia Governor and Democrat Mark Warner has succeeded in a state that has traditionally voted Republican and some are wondering if Barack Obama will be able to do the same. The state's demographics have made it a battleground in the upcoming presidential election. In fact, rural Virginia could make the difference between a Republican or Democrat in the White House. Virginia, however, hasn't voted for a Democratic President since Lyndon Johnson in l964, but Democratic rural strategist Dave "Mudcat" Saunders insists that inside every rural Virginia Republican is a Democrat trying to get out. "The question...

It’s four years later and Bill Lee hasn’t missed a beat. Lee, who narrowly lost a run for governor in 2004 to Ruth Ann Minner, was in Georgetown Tuesday morning to kickoff his gubernatorial campaign. The prayer breakfast at the Georgetown Family Restaurant was the first of nine stops, across all three counties, and marked the beginning of what Lee hopes will be a different outcome this time around. “When I made the intelligent decision not to run, the convention challenged that decision,” Lee said at the Sussex GOP headquarters prior to the breakfast. “I’m grateful they did.” Although Lee...

It appears that Camp Noriega held a fundraiser in London at the "Texas Embassy" in support of his campaign last week. The "Embassy" is a Tex-Mex restaurant in Trafalgar Square. The fundraiser brought in a ::brace yourselves everyone, this one's a killer:: monumental "$400.00! Woo hoo!!! They sure gave him a Texas sized welcome. There was about 12 people attending the fundraiser...all of which were Americans living in London. 3 were Texan. Here is some commentary from Camp Cornyn on the fundraiser: "As he was hauling in $400, Rick Noriega told his London supporters that Texas is "not quite meeting...

So in addition to the Demos attempting to cram down our throats an unqualified and inexperienced candidate for President...we've got to deal with the Wesley Clark backing Noriega. In a letter distributed to Noriega-ites, Clark talks about Senator Jim Webb's victory in Virginia against a Republican incumbent with a large war chest in the bank...expecting us to believe that Noriega can take Cornyn based on what exactly? Hope? Wishful thinking? Clark mentions how he is friends with Noriega: "I know Rick personally, and I know he'll be a great Senator for Texas." Well that's great Wes! But Texas needs more...

McCain should throw it right back in Obama's face, he should say: Sen. Obama understands the power of perception to influence behaviors, I mean that's why he started using the Presidential Seal – even before he had the nomination. Or say: Obama knows a lot about perception, that's why he wants to speak at the Brandenberg Gate... Or whatever he can say without seeming to take too cheap a shot. If anybody from the McCain campaign is reading this, please, wake up! I wrote my college thesis on perceptions and how they impact economic expectations. And the eminent Martin Feldstein...

The Political Machine 2008 B For PC. Rated for ages 10 and up. $19 MY FELLOW AMERICANS: Do you cringe every time your favorite presidential candidate makes a stupid blunder or fails to support your pet cause? Well, now you can shape the message by taking the helm of the campaigns of Barack Obama, John McCain, Hillary Clinton and various other historical candidates and presidents in The Political Machine 2008. But while this strategy game is a lot of fun in short doses, hardcore political junkies will want more. CLAWING TO THE TOP: In the campaign mode, you select a...

What I am talking about is a strategic alliance between Christians and Hillary supporters It may seem awkward at first, but if we unite we can defeat Obama. If we can put down our differences for a few months and unite in our common cause to defeat Obama and his far left liberal ways then we can at least keep our country safe for the next 4 years. I have been dialogging with some strong Hillary supporter blogs for a few weeks now. Sometimes it got a little confrontational, but now that she is probably not going to be the...

Democrats have placed a big bulls-eye on VA. Retiring Republican Senator John Warner's seat is in danger of being flipped by Democrat Mark Warner. Obama wants to make a play for the state. But the Dems can't keep their hands out of the cookie jar, giving Republicans a big stick.

How the hell should any of us know...? Actually, I know. He's the laughable candidate slated to take on Republican powerhouse Tom Craddick. Bill Dingus' history pretty much goes like this...he went to college, got a graduate degree, had a family, and a job, was a city councilman for 3 terms and decided he wants to take on the Speaker of the House Tom Craddick...HA! But it's going to be okay because, as his campaign slogan reads he's "One of the good guys"... Call me crazy but with his last Cash On Hand report sent to the Texas Ethics Commission...

In a sad attempt to get the party to rally behind Rick Noriega, the Texas Democratic Party made him the keynote speaker at their Convention this past week. Noriega who is "challenging" incumbent John Cornyn in November put on his best "please elect me, sympathy tie" and went before the flock of Texas Demos to rally support. Noriega must appear so desperate because he currently is 10 points behind Senator Cornyn in the polls and significantly behind Cornyn in fundraising...I'd be sad too (mas triste). This is sad attempt on behalf of the Texas Democratic Party...couldn't they have picked someone...

One Bright Spot for Black Republicans in 08 Ralph Nader with money? A celebrity with money who thinks like Nader? A Clinton walkout at the Denver convention? None of the above, actually. Instead, it is Dr. Deborah Travis Honeycutt who declares herself the Democratic Party's worst nightmare. She says so in a letter I found in my post office box this morning. How does she back up this claim? Because "I am a black Republican woman and I am running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. " Yes, I was skeptical, too, for I didn't recall Democrats...

From the Liberals Hurt Our Kids File. Via the Washington Post. Fairfax County School Board members said they are likely to abandon a staff report that showed racial and ethnic gaps in some measures of student behavior, including in the demonstration of "sound moral character and ethical judgment." The board had delayed an April vote to approve the report after concerns were raised that findings were based on subjective measures, such as elementary report card data, and that they would fuel negative stereotypes. [snip] The school system's report was an early attempt to measure progress on a host of goals...

My desktop background at work features a beautiful night shot of the Texas Capitol. I chose it because it's something non-partisan that conveys my interests. I try to keep my political side out of the office as it isn't really work appropriate. The other day I was approached by a girl I work with who commented on my photo. She is an adamant Hillary supporter and life-long democrat. She looked at me and said "Your hispanic and Republican? Are you sure your not just a closet democrat?" My response was: "I've been a Republican for 22 years and nine-months. Are...

John McCain releases his first ad for the general election. In it, he discusses his families military service, his military service, his stay in a POW camps, and his hatred for war... Another Republican candidate for governor is working again on getting some support down east. Charlotte Mayor and GOP gubernatorial hopeful Pat McCrory announced this week he was hiring former Carteret County party chairman Bob Pruett to lead his grassroots efforts in 39 eastern counties. Eastern North Carolina voters remain predominantly Democratic, but more have voted Republican in federal races in recent years. But the GOP has had a hard time translating that to governor. In 2004, Republican nominee Patrick Ballantine of Wilmington didn't fare that well as incumbent Democrat Mike Easley – from Southport – racked up big wins there....

Our friendly neighborhood liberals over at BurntOrangeReport feel compelled to praise State Rep. Juan Garcia in HD 32, claiming he’s one of the “strongest voices” in our Texas legislature today. Fascinating. A strong voice he may be---but the real question is: Is anyone listening? In 2007 out of the 15 pieces of legislation that Garcia managed to scramble together two of them managed to make it by their respective committee’s and onto the legislative floor. Although Garcia’s website boasts his agenda as being increasing: public resources, public safety, & public education, his record doesn’t show him being successful. Sure it’s...

The stakes may be high for the six candidates vying for the District 15 Assembly seat of termed-out incumbent Guy Houston, R-San Ramon, but there may be more on the line for the four Republican candidates. With three-termer Houston being the only Bay Area Republican serving in Sacramento, the region's Capitol contingent could become GOP-free if the Democrats win District 15 in November. Four Republicans and two Democrats have been campaigning hard for the June 3 primary, each hoping to earn their party's nomination for the November general election. Both parties recognize the need for a candidate who can appeal...

I know that a lot of Republicans and Conservatives in general have been disgusted, saddened and otherwise disenchanted with our GOP slate of candidates this year. John McCain seems intent upon driving all conservatives from the party and our Congressional Leadership, in the face of a growing national crisis of confidence fueled by historically high oil prices, seems incapable of action. Well with all that said I wanted to share a little good news. There really ARE Conservative Republicans out there who hear what we're saying, aren't afraid to campaign as conservatives and who deserve our strong support. Jim Gilmore...

President Bush threatened to veto the Foreclosure Bill proposed by the democrats. *link* This bill created by democrats wants to allocation billions of taxpayer funds to bail out individuals who basically bit off more they can chew it attempts to prevent foreclosure on homes across the county. Rep. Neugebauer from Texas brings up a valid point “The American people don’t want to make their neighbor’s payment when they’re having trouble making their own”, which is precisely what this bill would do. Assuming the bill passes, and homeowners are pulled from the brink of defaulting on their mortgage loan, what makes...

The Republican free-for-all to replace retiring GOP Rep. John Doolittle is ugly and getting uglier, with the campaigns spending plenty to tag one candidate as a greedy carpetbagger and the other as a big-spending liberal. Those are fighting words in the Fourth Congressional District, which rambles from the Sacramento suburbs of Rocklin and Roseville east to Lake Tahoe and north to the Oregon border. Former Rep. Doug Ose and state Sen. Tom McClintock are brawling for the GOP nomination in a district where Republicans outnumber Democrats 47 percent to 30 percent and the incumbent is leaving after being named in...

WASHINGTON — Local congressman Jerry McNerney, a freshman Democrat, has emerged as one of the Republicans’ top targets in Congress this year, making the race in his district that rarity in California politics — a national battleground contest and a true toss-up. In 2006, McNerney pulled off one of the big upsets of the year when he knocked out Republican Richard Pombo, a committee chairman who earned the ire of environmental groups. Now efforts by the GOP to retake the district, which stretches from Stockton through Alameda County to Morgan Hill, ensures an expensive campaign and one of the state’s...

Congressman Tancredo (R-Colorado) joined Congressman Ortiz in Brownsville on Tuesday for a joint committee meeting regarding the proposed fence building to attempt to curb illegal immigration (amongst other things) in the area. Not surprisingly, Tancredo was met with a rather cold reception with his known favoritism towards building the fence. “It really isn’t a border to most of us who live down here” said Betty Perez local activist. No need to guess which side she’s advocating. Now, on the not so stereo-typical side, you’ve got me to give you some insight into uber minority: the endangered Republican Female Mexican American...

Given recent results in congressional elections and current polls, and given the beating we took in 2006, there is significant concern that 2008 will result in the Democrats making sweeping gains in the House and Senate. Given the electoral history of the past few decades, I believe that the fears of Democrats picking up an additional 5 or more seats in the Senate, or 20 or more seats in the House, are WAY overstated, PROVIDED McCain wins by a few points or more in November. Why? I surveyed the Senate elections occuring in presidential years. In no year at least...

Peninsula GOP leaders asked Atherton Republican Greg Conlon "to take a bullet for the party," he said, and run against Jackie Speier in the special election to replace the late Rep. Tom Lantos earlier this month. The 75-year-old Conlon played the good soldier, dutifully finishing second with 9 percent of the vote, as Democrat Speier grabbed 79 percent for an easy - and expected - victory. Across the Bay Area, more Republicans are being asked to face that same electoral firing squad, marching into legislative contests where they have little or no chance of winning behind an increasingly tattered GOP...
